Ashworth College

I won't lie, so far attending this school has been nothing but frustrations and tears. The teachers are NOT helpful whatsoever. I will ask a question and won't get a response till 3 days have gone by at the least, but when they do they tell me to just look in the notes or book. My current teacher however has been the worst I've experienced ever. She would "try" to contact my externship to get questions answered but proceeded to take over a week to respond and not answer the phone (this has happened... Read More twice and wouldn't leave a message for my doctor). Outside of that, my externship has finally been accepted by her though I have been in it and trying to get her to accept it for over a month. So now all the work I have done for the assignments will not be graded since she didn't accept it till today. A month of hard work down the drain all because she couldn't answer her stupid email or phone. What a waste of money and time this school is. Her class may be the worst I've had to deal with but she isn't the first. I am trying to reframe from cursing on this review but I am biting my tongue not to. I'm highly disappointed with the teachers, staff, and overall school. But I know if I were to try and drop out they will just make me spend even more money on them. This school is a joke.

I can never understand the negative feedback for Ashworth or the other cheaper online colleges. It is the very same curriculum and books! You just pay less and work more on your own, without having to get dressed and sit in some class and listen to some guy for two hours. I have taken many smaller courses at Ashworth and Pennfoster, which is now one and the same. There is a great deal to be learned if you wish to apply it. There are some wonderful Professors at Ashworth, who at the moment is in transition, be patient when needing assistance. They are upgrading everything across the board,(from what I read and see). I think people are going to enjoy it even more. It will be well-sectioned and easier to get around, and everything will be laid out for you even better than currently. The only issue I have had and this, just once, was a snarky ticket response that offered no help in getting a paper graded. In all the time I have attended. I resubmitted it, and it was graded the next morning. Before I ever took one course at the college (way back in the early 2000's) I called local colleges with the Education ID and asked up front if the courses are excepted and, yes they are at most of your local college campuses. I re-verified this in 2021. I could go on to a master's program at my local college after this. I have had a great experience at the college and I recommend it, the staff has been very wonderful to me each time I have called and helpful. Besides, it is so much cheaper than traditional colleges. Who can afford 300,000 plus for a degree anymore? Who would want the debt? If you have doubts what I say is true, be nice, pay your bill, and do the work, and you will have no issues, trust me, I'm a grandma and I am still learning, and starting my own business because I want to help others with some skill, knowledge, and heart. I have had many job offers from what I have learned at Ashworth as well. Go ahead sign up and learn! I am so glad I did!

My program was a bunch of PowerPoint and PDF files you are supposed to read through and take a test/submit an assignment at the end. This. IS NOT a standard interactive online program. You get what you pay for. Don’t expect to get a quality bookkeeper certificate for $700 when other schools are charging $8-$15,000 for a much similar program. Shop programs before wasting $1 on this garbage. I read through the first class slides, I never took one test or one assignment. I was only able to get less... Read More than a 50% refund. Look at a real program through Purdue Global or Bryant Collegr depending on your budget.

This is going to detail my experience and personal results relative to Ashworth College... Over the past 10 years, I enrolled in and attended several colleges (both online and in person). I received my associate's finally after about 7-8 years! The timing just was never right for me to finish honestly. I was just do glad to have earned an associate's back in 2020, but even so, I still felt the need to attain my bachelor's - coming from my families, college was just not really what they did in their... But still, my mom sort of ingrained in my head that the same way you expect to go to high school after middle school would be the same way you would expect to attend college and get a bachelor's after high school. So not having it still just felt wrong - I was disappointed in myself for not living up to this. To shorten this up a bit... Before Ashworth I attended a technical college, two universities, and a college. All were regionally accredited, which is the most desirable accreditation for US secondary institutions. Ashworth's worst flaw is that it is nationally accredited, which doesn't bother me. Paying attention to job descriptions reveals that an accredited bachelor's degree is required, without specification of which accreditation one should have - after questioning this and conducting research into this, I found that most did not really care about which accreditation a college had, as long as it was accredited by the US Dept. of Education. Ashworth is. However Ashworth is not a participant of Federal education funds/grants/loans/etc. But as of now, the end of 2021, this college's tuition is actually affordable in such a way that you honestly do not need to worry about getting in that much debt. They do offer one scholarship, or they used to. I am unsure about details of that right now. Currently, a semester costs well under $1,500, and a discount off that if you can pay out in full. Generous monthly payment plans available. For two semesters, I want to say it's still under $3,000. And there's a fairly simple way to get the fourth semester paid for. You can get a bachelor's degree for a great price, a price that is still far less than the cost of just one year at most colleges! Just because Ashworth is an online college with national accreditation does not mean their coursework lacks in any way. I always have excelled on math - took AP Calculus in high school, made an A, plus earned my college credit on the exam. I still found their business statistics and statistical analysis courses to be slightly challenging! Even with the open book policy! Most tests in this college are open book. But if you think that means you could just easily skip learning anything and just answer questions with information simply found in the online text, and then just easily move on through.. you'd be incorrect. I actually have learned genuinely valuable and applicable knowledge from courses at Ashworth. Each course also requires like two writing assignments. And they will definitely read them, so don't think it's a free 100. You have to put in real effort to get that A. That being said though, the selling point for me what the REAL option of this college being SELF-PACED. So many others incorrectly claim this. But I just finished my first semester with Ashworth (transfered about 70-75 credit hours on total - fairly generous with that process too - and they're fairly quick with transcript evaluations). I completed this semester in about two months, which is quite fast. But that doesn't mean I just "zoomed" on through. It required a lot of time on my end, with a lot of effort and self-motivation as well. If you aren't self-motivated to complete your work, don't go here. Really, if you're like that, I don't think there's any legitimate college you should attend... But Ashworth does require one to have a bit more of self-motivation just because of its set-up. Also, another downside is the lack of degree and course offerings. They offer what I would deem as just enough. But I still wish there were a couple more subject areas (I like taking a bit of everything possible really - I like learning in all areas to have at least some level of knowledge in most things). Overall, my recommendation regarding Ashworth is YES. I think they are worth it. And to sum this up, I would like to add this last portion in without being too specific. So attending Ashworth led me to applying for a job through one of their sister institutions... My previous and current experience with both work and education has seemed to work out for the better. I hope to move up within the organization upon earning my bachelor's - this job seems wonderful and has great benefits... And it's the highest paying job I've actually had, like ever. And since it's affiliated with Ashworth, well, I'm glad I decided to go to Ashworth. It seems to be helping me educationally and professionally, so this college has already significantly helped improve my life before I've even graduated.

I have always considered myself a life learner. I currently hold both an Associate's and Bachelor's degree as well as an MBA. I enrolled at Ashworth under one of the career diploma programs to refamiliarize myself with the Security industry as my plan is to open my own agency in the near future. When I enrolled in the program, their website specifically stated that a textbook was included. Other courses specified an e-textbook for their curriculum. After beginning the course I reached out to Ashworth... Read More and asked when books would ship. Customer Service told me as soon as learning group 2 opened the book shipment would trigger. After opening learning group 2, just as the CS agent stated a shipment was triggered but a backorder status was applied. I waited several weeks with no change in status and reached out again. This time I received a short, "the book is an etextbook" and the ticket was closed. I then opened another ticket, explaining that when I enrolled in the course it was clearly outlined that the course offered a textbook and not an etextbook. I told them I was charged $40 for shipping and if this was actually the case I wanted a credit of $40. Ashworth responded and said that the shipping line is for various other fees. The ticket was closed, the shipment magically disappeared from my dashboard, and now I am forced to pay $40 for a piece of paper to be mailed to me once I complete the course. In regard to the material, it's ok, but rather dated. The books are almost 10 years old. For what I was looking for, the course will meet my expectations. With that said, I would not recommend this school to anyone for their career diploma programs. Ashworth needs to conduct some serious customer service training. Answering inquiries with short answers and then just closing tickets is unacceptable. There needs to be a back and forth. Only the student should be allowed to mark the ticket as closed unless several days go by without anymore input from the student. Charging a shipping fee of $40 for "other fees" is shady. Telling students there will be a textbook shipment, then deciding textbooks don't exist is shady. Removing the shipment from a dashboard once you are called out about it, is shady. This course shouldn't be anymore than $500 period. Over priced, and underdelivered.
