University of Arkansas Grantham

Perhaps this school was something better in the past but I can't see it more than just a money grab. From never hearing a professors voice in our age of video calls and recordings everywhere to calling a professor during their designated office (hour) one day per week to get VM because they're at their real job and Grantham is just a side hustle. Numerous times I've emailed a professor about an incorrect test question and have NEVER heard back from them. Since all learning is 100% on your own I dug around and found an answer key to a class book that involved heavy math to help study. When I found a wrong answer in the key book and in the class book I left the question blank stating 'this math doesn't add up.' The 'professor' marked the answer with the bad value from the teachers guide that I was using without ever checking it themselves.

The final straw for me was when the school broke their own policy to removing me from a class after I didn't do anything for over two weeks. Instead they let the class continue to 5 weeks then said since I dropped under 50% class load so I must re-enroll which gave me a new list of classes extending my overall requirements for the school. I stopped the class in week 1 and told them that I wanted to find alternative 'local' classes to a few of the tougher subjects and they didn't like that! This school will get what they deserve in time.

When I started Grantham it was the only school in the US with a full engineering degree online but since Covid many other regional schools are online. Thank God but I will never go back to Grantham nor ever recommend them. They took subjects that I've loved since elementary school and made me hate learning them any further.

To all the military and medical people out there don't be fooled by Grantham's 'public service member discount' because trust me you don't get what you pay for here anyways. I long for the day when Khan Academy sets the new standard for basic education and closes schools like this down. Also, keep in mind since Grantham operates based on 'national rules' it means that no local or 'regional' school will accept your previously earned credits forcing you to start over. Regional class work/credits earned will transfer to Grantham but nothing from Grantham will pass on to a brick and mortar school.

A smart man can learn from his own mistakes but a wise man can learn from other people's mistakes. So, learn from my mistakes and just go find a real school that does classes online. More options are available now.

Starting off, the admissions staff is fantastic and quick. From time of inquiry, I was in class by the following week. It was by far the most organized admissions department I've ever seen. The professors on the other hand are lackluster. Most of them are part-timers who only feel obligated to do their work for a few hours a week. I literally have one who ONLY checks for ONE HOUR on Saturdays, and the rest of the week he's MIA. The learning is all done via Cengage textbook companion material, so... Read More they're not actually teaching anything. They just input grades spit out by the Cengage grader. They have no idea what's in the content/assignments and just direct you to tech support or your advisor for questions they should be able to help with. Another thing is admissions will lie about the due date requirements for assignments by telling you you work at your own pace throughout the week. That is not true. There are due dates scattered throughout the week for assignments, which really damages the whole "work at your own pace" selling point. The classes are also super quick (8 weeks long), so if you're ok with learning a LOT of information by yourself really quickly then this is a good choice. If you want to learn from an actual professor/watch lectures or ask questions/discuss concepts with your professor.... this isn't the ideal choice.

I did my AS degree elsewhere and completed my BS at Grantham University in 2021. Grantham curriculum is similar to other expensive Colleges and Universities, also the speed of completing each complex topic is about the same. I checked other schools and the only significant difference was the cost, therefore, I chose Grantham. My advise to anyone who is pursuing a degree is, passing the exams and quizzes should be your main priority. It was difficult to fully understand so much information in that short time, so the focus was on just passing the classes. I am only elaborating on the difficult classes such as, cal 1 and 2, physics 1 and 2, circuit analysis, and so on. I was attending the University of Arkansas's eVersity, to complete both my associate's degree and my bachelor's degree. Before I could finish my bachelor's eVersity "purchased" Grantham University, and I was forced to transfer. While enrolled with eVersity it was always very accommodating to a working student's schedule. As a mom of four, working full time and attending school was a stretch, but one that I was willing and able to make with eVersity. The financial advisors were always on top of things... Then the instructors were always involved with their instruction and the reading material matched up with the assignments, and it was a realistic amount of instruction. When transferring to Grantham my financial aid advisor didn't seem to know how to work with student loans, and I received large refunds, but then also received a bill for tuition. Then on to the classes, the reading never seems to line up with the assignments, but I have tolerated it because professors were helpful, until this term, which happens to be my very last term. The class I am in bounces all over the place and the assignments might be over something you won't read about for two weeks or something you read earlier. On top of that, the required reading generally includes 2 chapters of 50 plus pages, regulations to read from a federal record which are very long, and then a "lecture" which is never about what our required reading was about, and takes at least another hour to read and then a short video. Nothing makes sense, I cannot get in touch with the professor, and it is now week 8 and she has only graded up to week 2...and there are only four students enrolled in the class. I have reached out to my advisor who is very nice, but nothing happens, she was supposed to reach out to the Dean, and I heard nothing back from that. I cannot find any way to contact the Dean myself, or any other leadership member. Point blank worst experience, thank goodness I was close to finishing my degree, or this would have completely derailed me.

I do not recommend coming to Grantham University. They convince you that they are a great school and it turns out not to be true. I have done everything asked stay on time with assignments emailed people when I have concerns (communicated) and they literally do not solve them most of the time. Financial team is no help and certain teachers will be no help. It is rare that you will meet great people at Grantham University. As long as Grantham gets their parts and are satisfied most of them care nothing about the students. They have gotten rid of or disconnected all the people that actually care to help with the process of getting education at this university.

I transferred to Grantham University from another school and it was quite literally the worst decision I have made. For one I should have done my research because this school has a 8% graduation rate. And the instructors grade your work the last minute, I feel like I'm not learning anything relevant the books are bias and a bit offensive. And as soon as the school get's paid they leave you high and dry. And as far as the financial aid department, they are quick to collect your money for school fee's... Read More but make their students wait weeks to get their excess refunds. And I keep hearing that Grantham degrees are worthless and now I see why.

Now the University of Arkansas Grantham, I hope they push for better accreditation. Like most online schools I had some really bad professors who basically just gave you As. I also had some real tough professors who really pushed me to do better work and judged every assignment. I have used a large portion of my lessons in my career already and look forward to the rest of it thanks to Grantham. While the school had a bit of a diploma mill feel, you need to make an effort to learn and apply the lessons. Yea you can pass going through the motions but don't you are cheating yourself.

I had to write another review. I just can't understand why people think it's possible to put in 10% of the work you'd have to put in if you were in a classroom somewhere. Grantham NEVER applied for more aid than necessary. What they plan to apply for is CLEARLY posted online after you log into your account. You have to electronically sign it BEFORE they will actually commit to the funding plan. If you don't agree with it then they state for you to call them so it can be discussed and be more suited... There is a negative review of the Financial Aid Dept. at Grantham University. My experience with the FA Dept was, without a doubt, extremely simple and easy. It was PAINLESS. I can say it did have the potential to be stressful, frustrating, and negative. The attention needed throughout the FA process and my classes/courses was exactly the same. You have to do the work, the school wasn't going to do the work for me! That's simply common sense. You get out of something what you put into it. If you don't do what's expected of you then you can't expect the other end to do what's expected of them. It's just that simple! I'm not exactly sure what the issue was with the individual who gave a very negative review of GU's FA Dept. but I can say they were very diligent, helpful, and informative throughout the whole Financial Planning/Aid process. I'm sure GU did something right or positive with their FA process but only commented on how terrible they were. Since almost all the reviews were positive, just as mine was, it appears the issue was with the student. They couldn't possibly do well with everyone else except one person. The record speaks for itself. I do apologize for such a lengthy review but I thought it important & relevant to convey my experience. To all the prospective GU student who may need financial aid, DO NOT BE DETERRED BY THAT NEGATIVE REVIEW. I'm certain your experience will be just a seamless, efficient, simple, and effective as mine. I mean this only as constructive criticism. Worse School I have ever attended. I had two instructors who I have never seen, talked to, and their response to your questions take 72hrs and weekends are not included. Two classes I had Network Cert and Cyber Cert classes, I had an extreme amount of assignments that had me working 16hrs to complete them before the date to turn them in. You will be given instructions by this so called instructor that basically does their job because you will not have any Zoom meetings or phone call correspondence... Read More at all. They tell you to read 3 Chapters a week, write 2 Discussions and respond to two, YOU WILL BE GRADED! So aside from all the reading and research you have to do you have to also do Labs and quizzes each week! You have a limited time to complete the labs in their Testout site. After so long doing labs you're asked to extend or turn it in. I asked questions to my instructions regarding the labs, it took over 72hrs for a response! How does that work for anyone who has a life? I thought this was meant to be a casual learning experience, but instead I was so stress out I ended up in the Drs...After I told them I will drop out now and pay what I owe they said I may get money back and to hold off on the payment. I waited, but instead of them sending me money back they claimed I was past due...This company is a complete SCAM and worthless for education. Udemy will give you more video instruction than this raggedy "Company"! I would never call this place any sort of education source. They are a company who SCAMS potential students and gives the student the the Instructors work to do for them and say you have to read this and that...why do we pay you!? That is your job to educate the students! Stay away from this raggedy education company!

The reviews on this panel that talk about Cengage are correct. Only they have moved away from ANY books at all and moved to online only access, but still charge you the $250 plus book fee. And don't get me started on the teachers. The classes that are taught by decent teachers are few and far between. Some of them are really not good teachers at all. Read More to this school, because much of the software your required to load for labs is not Apple compatible. Which is funny since Apple offers the best incentives for school laptops. Just stay away. Look at more major colleges for their online programs. In this field, you get what you pay for. If $50 per credit hour is what you are seeking, then by all means, you will get what you pay for, $150 of education. But if you seek an environment where your teachers want to see you learn, grow and succeed, keep on looking. I had one person, one of my first student counselors, who was just awesome. Nicole was just superb. She handles only the Freshman people. Once you move to Sophomore, then you get the people who don't even really care. Josh was my next one and he couldn't even find time to call and see how things were going. I finally just told him to bug off and leave me alone, that if he couldn't be consistent with it then I would call him if I needed him. I'm just a few credits away from graduation then I am so done with them. That's my only reason for staying.

I was looking for an accredited university that had a Master’s Degree program that would: accommodate my busy and hectic schedule, be challenging as well as rewarding and I would be able to use my GI Bill. Syllabus spelled out what I needed to know for each course. My advisors and instructors responded in a timely fashion to my questions and concerns. I was extremely impressed with my whole experience at Grantham University.

Overall, I would recommend this school to others. The things I like about Grantham University: 1) Military Friendly, My tuition assistance covered all the tuition and there were minimal fees in the beginning, circa 2018, fees were eliminated later with the exception of a graduation fee 2) My student advisor was awesome, he would answer any question or get me any info I wanted to decide what class was next or how many classes I was going to take. I never took more than two at a time, but I did that... Read More three terms in a row once to make up for my slightly long summer break. 3) They use blackboard for distance learning, it works great, they really work very hard to keep it operational 100%, I think it only suffered one time from an outage in two years. 4) Most, if not all, of the teaching staff are super flexible.

I am a military vet and really enjoyed my time earning my Bachelors degree from Grantham University. The attention given to you as an online student by the faculty and instructors is invaluable. The interaction with my online instructors made my virtual classroom experience just as good as an in person experience. I found the instructors to be knowledgeable and facilitating. I decided to go to Grantham because the EET program is ABET accredited and the price of tuition was affordable. In the end it turned out to be a great choice for me because of the 8 week courses and the non-stop delivery or courses (no summer, spring or winter break). This allowed me to quickly complete my degree and in a pretty short period of time. The courses were challenging but usually enjoyable.
