"This experience I had, was like none other. I started college right out of high school, at a different college. The first college did not care, did not reach out, was basically in it for the money. There was NO personal connection. Here at AIU, I have ( I am enrolled to start my Bachelor's) are the greatest people I have met, not physically just via phone calls emails and messages. My Admission Advisor and my Academic Advisor are the biggest part of my success here. They are always getting back to me in a very fast manor. They are always on top of making sure I have the answers to any questions I have. This college, online, is such a way of helping an individual grow. It teaches you things that you never would have imagined. Self discipline and self motivation are some of the things that you can learn without even knowing. To be able to graduate with my Associate Degree, with all of the obstacles I have encountered during my 16 month adventure, has been the biggest accomplishment this far in my life. Take a look around, ask questions. This is the perfect place for anyone that does not think that they can manage school.Read Less"

"I started at American Intercontinental University in August of 2007. This is a great online school. I'm a little disappointed that I could not find a job in my field. Otherwise, the professors were very skilled at teaching their disciplines online. It is very important to note that the courses require intensive reading, research, and writing. When I attended, there were no exams, quizzes or tests, but maybe American Intercontinental University changed over the past 9 years since I graduated. I really enjoyed the courses; I found that I am more of an active learner; therefore, online education was the perfect fit for me. Just remember that online education requires self-discipline, and more interaction with your classmates and professors in the chat room. I like the flexibility American Intercontinental University offers; that is, you get to do your assignments at a time convenient for you. Just remember to stay focused and on track when completing your assignments; otherwise, you will fall behind. I never procrastinated. I always turned in my Discussion Boards and Individual Project assignments on time. My professors graded fairly and I had no problems with the ones who gave me feedback on my assignments. The professors do care about the students, but you have to do the work and submit your assignments on time. I gave three stars regarding being satisfied with the degree program and I was not happy because even after graduating with honors, I still could not land a decent paying job in my field. My admissions adviser was very supportive of my educational pursuits and even encouraged me to press on no matter how challenging it became. To those of you who are considering attending American Intercontinental University Online, remember you will have to make sacrifices, but remember to ask questions when you do not understand and get help immediately from your professor. "This college is a JOKE! When I signed up, I was told I could get my Bachelors Degree in Accounting here. So I did my Associates in Business and then went to start on the Accounting and they call me and tell me that they are sorry but they have no degree in Accounting so I am going to have to transfer to a different college. I transferred to Upper Iowa University and they tell me that absolutely NOTHING transferred from AIU so not only did I pay 24,000 to go here but then I had to pay AGAIN for my first 2 years over again!!! Leaving me with a big nice bill of about 70,000 dollars for a Bachelors Degree in Accounting.Read Less"

"I hate them so much. I know that is not nice to say but for a college program to steal from a working mother and ruin her credit for years and years to come is just too much. I did myself a huge disservice by going to this online school. Stafford loans just kept getting added onto my account somehow. I was only their one year from 2004 to 2005 and due to all of the loans that were put on by the Va, and or Stafford my credit has been ruined. and to this day I still don't have the transcripts to prove the work I did do. 17 credits worth. I was on the accelerated program. It sounded good to do at the time, and for a little while it was great, my teachers were nice and I was pretty much able to follow along, but then came the art class and that just was not something that you should do online, I know now that I need to be in front of a teacher with a dry erase board. Online was not the way for me nor was the amount of money this cost me. I tried several times to tell them to cancel the class and to drop out due to unforseen circumstances and I don't think they ever did so I got charged for classes i never took. I'm very disappointed and still trying to work my way out of the mess this caused me.Read Less"

"I am currently taking classes at AIU. I am surprised at all the bad reviews. I am about to finish up two classes. Making a total of three classes I have taken. I love it so far! I am impressed with how much I am learning. Although challenging, it is not too overwhelming for me. My instructors have all been great and helpful! There are so many options I didn't think I would have online. I did have some issues with financial aid but I think that was mostly my confusion. You have to put in to it what you want out of it. If you don't apply yourself or read the material they give you, then you won't take anything from it. I have a hard time learning in a classroom setting. I much rather go the independent route and learn on my own time. It isn't for everyone, but if you work hard and manage your time you will succeed.Read Less"

"Since graduating I wouldn't say my degree has hindered not helped me. I was able to find a decent career in the field I didn't study. Now I'm looking for another college to attend. It was fun while it lasted though. Nevertheless, the school is not a complete waste of time but I think if you want a success you have to have an appetite for education. At this point, I crave success. I'm not satisfied until I get my masters degree."

"I loved the program. They were very professional and left nothing in question. The online program was very manageable and interactive and I learned so much and enjoyed attending all of my classes. The professors were great. All of my credits were transferable. I was so happy to walk across the stage during graduation in Atlanta. My overall experience was two thumbs up and I definitely recommend AIU to potential students!!"

"Watch this school closely. They tell you one thing and the turn around and do the opposite. I withdrew due to a car accident and then found out laterr they kept the money from my student loans even though It was only one week into the class. When I called to question the loan I was transferred to three different people and still could not get the correct person I needed and the last lady hung up on me without helping me at all."

"For the most part, the classes are a little too easy. Most of the professors I have had are doing this as their second job for whatever reason and though they try, their time with the class is actually very limited. The financial Aid department has a few great people, the rest are more then happy to just have you fill out the FASFA and not mention or offer any further help. In their sales pitch they promised me the school had connections in Alaska and would be able to help place me in a Job after graduation however when the time came they had no connections or ways to aid me in finding a position. "I have to say that I am reading some very good things on here about the school, and a few not so good. I just graduated in December 2012 with an AABA from AIU Online. I am now enrolled in the Bachelor's program. I will tell you this, although the online school is more expensive than the traditional classroom setting, it is worth every penny. Furthermore, this is a serious school, no scams whatsoever.It would seem to me that the people that are complaining are the individuals that just could not give 110%. It is not easy, trust me. I work 13 hours a day with swing shifts and I made it with honors. I rated the job placement lower simply because I have not had the opportunity to utilize them so I cannot give a good rating to something I have not utilized.It is however true, you will see many students that cannot use grammar correctly or formulate a sentence. However, you must remember that many of these students are from other countries and their engish skills are not up to par. It doesn't mean they do not deserve to receive their diplomas. You can graduate quickly by going the accelerated route completing 9.0 credit hours every 5 weeks. You should actually give AIU Online a chance, only if you are serious about your education.Read Less"

"This school was the worst I ever attended. At the beginning AIU was there to support me with any issue that arises. Towards the end the professors started to not teach you the topics that were assigned.I don't know if AIU has got new administration but their values and morals have changed. I am not the only person that I know that has had issues lately.I would never recommend this school to anyone. When you do have an issue and you try to find the correct answer no one has the same answer. It's always the run around.Read Less"
