"The pros of Colorado School of Mines would be the size of the classes and the people around you. Small classes induce more quality time with professors and peers. Colorado is a very active state especially outside the city of Denver, many students and citizens in the area are physically active and healthy. Employment rate after graduation is also incredibly high. One of the cons would be the size of the school as well. Although our school is recognized by many petroleum companies, not many industries know of us because of the shear size of the school. Corporate recruitment is also mainly in the petroleum fields. The location of our school is also a con. Being in the center of the nation keeps us distant from many large engineering companies. Being an engineering specific school also brings our student retention rates down; engineering is a difficult field."

"The EES program includes a variety of disciplines within it, making it great for many people. I have a more biology-focused background, and even though this is an Engineering program, there is a great deal that is microbiology and chemistry. I think this makes the program a little more flexible-- I can specialize a little better with it."

"The Colorado School of Mines (CSM) is recognized for its excellence in academia and transforming students into reliable professionals who are knowledgeable in their respective fields. The campus itself is beautiful and the town of Golden is perfect for college because it is small enough that you run into friends at the local pizzeria or while taking a tour of Coors, yet it is near Denver so if you enjoy big-city flair, you are only a half hour light rail ride from bustling downtown. I received my Master of Science degree from CSM and thought that the professors were great scientists who performed profound research. The biggest con was that it felt like some of the professors focused solely on research and not on working on lectures for their students. This is something that was new to me since my undergraduate institution had professors who worked very closely with the students and even taught the laboratory courses."

"Certain classes are only offered every other year during one semester which prevents students from taking all the classes they want. The faculty and school is pretty small overall."

"While academically challenging, there leaves little room for a social life. The quality of education is great for such a beautiful location."
