"Colorado Technical University is a for-profit institution and runs like one. While I can say that a majority of my professors were wonderful, there were a few situations that were awful and there was little help to resolve said issues. I would suggest thinking long and hard before attending any for-profit college."

"As a veteran focused on completing a degree, CTU was very useful in completing that goal. The per credit cost is a bit high, but the value of the degree makes that cost worthwhile. I had good luck with instructors and support staff. I was motivated and did a lot more work than some of my peers. Some of the instructors graded quite easily, while others were more strict. Over the years, the degree has paid for itself and I am glad the program has provided me with the benefits of increased compensation and career advancement opportunities.Read Less"

"I graduated from CTU in My 2018. Overall I really enjoyed my experience. The school worked with me a lot when I had a family emergency and had to take a session off from my accelerated degree plan. The instructors are mostly pretty educated and really care for you to succeed in general as a student. Most classes werent too difficult, minimum study time. Group projects were a joke though. My entire time here I think I did all group projects alone, but thats probably b just my bad luck. My only issue with the school was miscommunication a few times with financial aid , but that is also why I calculate and monitor my own money when it comes to school. Never hurts to triple check and stay ahead of the next persons mistake. I would recommend the school.Read Less"

"STOP.....STOP......STOP , do not sign up! This school is a fraud! Another Corinthian degree, profit mill. The tuition is all out school state prices, don't be stupid, CTU online wants $325 per unit, and credits are not transferable and the degree is no better than toilet paper! Your local community college is the best opportunity you will have and they also have a online degree program! I was defrauded in 2005 when online schooling was still in the beta phases, I didn't know any better since i did not graduate from high school! They used my name to borrow money for classes that where given in high school. "i really do love this school. just because you can work at any pace before your deadline. its pretty simply if you can keep working on your studies . if your a busy person just by completing 20 mins a day help . it does say study at least 3hours a day . that doesnt matter if your completing everything you need to be done. very great school . so far i have been almost a month and its great. i really do hope it continues that way i graduate around 2021. hopefully sooner would be nice"

"I am just finishing my degree at CTU online and have been very happy with my experience. First of all, their online portal is great. It is very easy to navigate and user friendly! I had looked at other schools previous to my enrollment at CTU and CTU by far had the most impressive online portal. I found the instructors to be helpful, and always answer questions. Out of all my courses, I only had one instructor that wasn't very helpful, however after reaching out to my student adviser, the issue was resolved quickly and efficiently. The classes and course work were challenging, yet the classes always included extra resources in order to help with your studies. I feel that I learned a lot from my classes and I was definitely able to take what I learned and apply it in my current job. I never had a problem with financial aid. I always found the financial aid advisers to be helpful and courteous. I have seen many posts where people criticize the school because they ran out of money or what not, but honestly, that is not the school's fault. I monitored what I took for financial aid, and I made sure that if I felt that I was getting close to my limit that I didn't take a stipend, simple. It's all about being a proactive adult and ensuring that you take control of your education. Finally, I have to say that my Advisers, although I have been through three, have all been wonderful. I am a single mother, who works full time and had a full time course load. If I can do it, you can too! I highly recommend this school! As a side note, my Bachelor's degree has enabled me to advance at my job to a supervisory position (I already work in the CJ field) and I am enrolling in school for my Master's in Psychology (I wish CTU offered that Master's program but unfortunately they don't).Read Less"

"The university overall was good. The instructors were knowledgeable and the coursework was good. While the degree itself did not help me obtain the career I'm in, it has helped me with a pay raise. The costs was reasonable in my opinion as well. If I had to go back and do it again, I would use Colorado Technical University Online again."

"I have read student reviews that are all over the spectrum about CTU. I can personally attest that the degree program is presented in a professional and demanding environment by seasoned professional instructors who are subject matter experts that have extensive and diverse experiences in the field. These subject matter experts demand hard work, personal responsibility and accountability.. They do not babysit and they do not coddle. I. four years, I never had a professor who was lacking. They understand that life happens and are willing to provide some latitude on assignments. THOSE WHO DECRY THE COLLEGE Ned to be placed under the microscope. Most who are complaining and slamming the instructors, programs and process should be scrutinized carefully. I have found most whiners here are not college material on the first place. One look at their broken English, poor grammar and rambling bear witness to people who do not belong with the program in the first place. "I am a current student. Ctu is great for people who need more one on one time. Smaller classes I'm not to found of the online program. I prefer to take a ground class. Everyone there has been so helpful to me and my teachers are experienced in the field they are teaching. Yes it's a lot of money but it will be worthwhile in the end. I started aug 17 2014 and winter of 2018 (Jan) which is next year is when I graduate I recommend this for ground classes."

"I would like to say I had my questions and concerns about CTU. I been enrolled for 10 mouths this now. I love it. Not much of a problem for me. I have made great grades so far. Only had to repeat one class so far which was Eng-103. I hate English, plus my laptop just broke. So that made it harder to complete my course. I believe in this school, I've waited and prayed for this. The checks have been very concisdence as well. I am able to communicate with instructors and classmates. It is 100% real to me. "I have an associate's degree and two certificates after having attended two universities and three community colleges. I will be completing my bachelor's degree on 02/09/2016 at C.T.U. with a 3.95 GPA. I can honestly say it was a lot of busy work! Between discussion board assignments, individual projects, group projects, and intellipath, the work load makes up for the lack of tests and exams that are not incorporated into the program. Some teachers were better than others, some classes were redundant and covered a lot of the same or similar information, and I had some aggravating issues with the prior learning assessment when completing an E.L.P. portfolio. I also despised intellipath and the group projects, anyone else who has completed these will agree with me entirely. Overall, I enjoy the way that the classes are run at the school and found myself doing much better than I had at previous colleges. I did however notice that there were an abundance of classmates in my final upper level classes who were completing projects at the level of a 5th grade foreign exchange student with very little English and grammar knowledge. This was pretty disturbing as I don't see how someone can make it to a 400 level class when their idea of citing a references in APA format is simply pasting a hyperlink at the bottom of the page. I also don't understand why C.T.U.'s bachelor's degree program is 180 college credits. Most programs are roughly 120-130 college credits everywhere else and with 5.5 week 4 credit classes at C.T.U. you would assume that you are taking an accelerated class and would attain your degree much faster. Sadly this is not the case as C.T.U. requires 50+ more credits from you to complete their program which gives me the impression that they're just trying to line their pockets in money. My overall impression of the school would sit at about a B-. Things could be better and things could be worse, but the material is certainly there for you to learn if you hold up your end of the bargain.Read Less"

"This school scammed me out of 3000. Bill collector called and told me I owed even when I supposably had finacial aid. Now I am being called everyday to pay because someone gave false info telling me I had F/a. This school is a scam and the online classroom is very unprofessional. The F/a advisors are rude and the admission advisor I had was fired for inappropriate contact with students."

"First off, I graduated in 2007. Things may have changed a bit and it was in transition when I was studying. Almost all of the instructors were extremely helpful with only one exception. He was critical of everyone's work but the criticism was not constructive. It seems like they make a good faith effort to find instructors that work in the field that you are studying. I really enjoyed my time there and it assisted me in obtaining a position as a Criminal Investigator in a State Police agency in Texas. They push you to do your best and follow up to show that they really care about your goals in life. I love this experience even in the hard times it is better than the rest in my opinion"

"I loved to attend CTU for my undergrad. The instructors were very knowledgeable and helpful. Every part of my education there was very useful and I learned a lot. The live chats and interaction with teachers were great and they really help to clarify questions and to learn from the live lectures. This was the best part of the experience. It was like attending class with all of the other students and the teachers. Great concept and teaching model. I highly recommend CTU to all very busy people because you can listen to the lectures when you can and do not have to be there for the live lectures. The best part is contacting the instructors live during their office hours and clear up questions. Very good school and I wish I could have attended for my Graduate studies. "I recieved my bachelor degree in criminal justice at CTU. The courses were challenging at first, then I learned to use my time wisely. The Instructors have PHD's and their backgrounds are well experienced in their field. The instructors were helpful in assisting me in understanding several courses. The material was not outdated and the courses were proffesional as well as academic peer reviewed. "I graduated from CTU in December 2013 with my bachelors in criminal justice. I loved it it was a very good experience for me. All departments where very helpful for example, the last class I had messed up on my final grade because I had all A's on the assignments but the overall grade was a B I immediately contacted my adviser and it was corrected within 24 hrs. I found most of the teachers were very good there was only a couple that I didn't think allowed us to participate during class time or gave us constructive feedback. I would recommend CTU because I really enjoyed my experience and I do believe my degree will pay off.Read Less"

"Colorado Technical University to me is the best kept secret. Tuition was reasonable and its online campus was easy to navigate through, I have no complaints at all! This school was great at assisting me with my financial aid application, instructors would respond promptly to my emails, all my books and materials were given to me on time. My overall experience was wonderful and to put icing on the cake, the graduation in Denver was superb!. I have saw some of the other reviews that claim CTU credits are not transferable and that this place is a degree mill, not true I transferred my credits. "Colorado Technical University Online (CTUO) is not a school for everyone. The courses used to vary from 11 weeks to 5 weeks but I guess they decided that they were not pumping enough students through the system. All courses are now 5 weeks long. There are some good instructors, that is, instructors that want to help you learn but for the most part instructors are low quality and do not help at all. I have had some instructors that barely speak English. The books are mostly e-books that you cannot take with you when you leave. You cannot download them, save them or put them to disk, but you can print them, one chapter at a time. What complicates learning is that most of the time the e-books have little or nothing to do with the course being taught. In this school you get out of the school what you put into it. They might as well call this the self-taught school because that is what it is. You do have grades handed out by the instructors who may dock you points for no other reason than he/she can. I once ran into an instructor who told me that students attending online classes did not deserve a 100% because they did not learn as much as a brick and mortar classroom student did. I believe him now. After two years my money and time have been wasted. I have had employers laugh at me when produce my degree from CTUO. Financial aid is another joke. I do not think even they know what stipends or disbursements you are going to get. I even think that they get points for getting you off the phone by telling you that your money will be in tomorrow. The whole financial aid department is incompetent with exception of one person I talked to a year in a half ago. Speaking of incompetent so is CTUO entire IT department. CTUO has discussion boards and back in 2010 they worked great then they had the 2011 spring update. Discussion board was unable to carry the original format. In other words I spent hours working on a paper making it neat and tidy with 0.5” borders, APA format, double space, and indent first line of paragraph. When I posted to the discussion board it came out with no boarders, single spaced and random enters sometimes five words then enter, and sometimes 10 words then enter. IT said it wasn’t their problem must be my computer. So I spent days figuring out it was not my problem even worked with Microsoft. IT said not their problem discussion boards worked fine. SIX months later they admitted it was a problem in the meantime all the students were getting docked 10 points per assignment for not submitting in APA format. I would go and spend an hour reworking my assignment on the discussion board so that it looked like I had originally written it. CTUO is a horrible place to get your degree from. It takes hours of research to research the subject matter and even longer to put it in a cohesive document. Be prepared to be congratulated on one hand for going above the required word count and punished with a low grade on the other for exceeding the expectations of the assignment. I received my Bachelor’s degree but would NEVER! EVER! Recommend to anyone that they attend this school. OH! And by the way forget about job placement assistance! THERE IS NONE AT ALL!!!!!Read Less"

"I am not here to argue for or against CTU in the same ways many of you are. The only thing that pisses me off is their stinking site maintenance prevents us from accessing the online virtual campus or getting assignments in on time etc. it's totally ridiculous and unnaceptable to do site maintenance when students need full access to the campus etc.Why do they not do it during their online campuses scheduled breaks and time off like the holidays etc.? They could have done this over the Christmas and New Years vacation but NO they gotta do it right at the end of FEB start of March.Honestly I don't think they give a crap what we students think.
