"Columbia University is a top university with a lot of brilliant minds and resources all in one city. However, there can be a lack of community."

"My school prepared me for a career in public health. It was not geared toward part-time students."

"Mailman is a great place to get your MPH. The faculty members are great! They are usually willing to help student find research or work opportunities. I have received a lot of help with career development. In addition, in class I have learned valuable skills which I can apply in a real-world setting."

"The Mailman School of Public Health has numerous faculty that are recognized nationally and internationally in an array of fields such as global health and human rights. The opportunity to work along side and learn from these faculty members is quite amazing. I truly believe that this program offers a great core program that really delves into numerous aspects of public health (the six studios) and provides a core foundation for everyone in the program. My department is Population and Family Health and the program is set up to provide tangible skills that students can apply outside of the classroom. I found myself challenged academically and it has definitely been a rewarding experience thus far. Mailman has established relationships with many organizations where students have the opportunity to do fieldwork domestically or globally. I highly recommend this program to those who are really interested in public health and looking to build upon skill sets that can cut across other fields outside of public health."

"My graduate program at Columbia University is currently training the future of public health, on a national and global level. This is a top notch program. Although it is one of the best public health programs in the country, the financial aspect is difficult."

"Columbia University's MPH program is one of the most advanced in the country. The only problem is the housing situation; it's expensive."

"The Mailman School of Public Health is definitely one of the top tier programs in the country and I can tell from the quality of their educational programming even after just one month. The only issue really is the cost of the tuition and living expenses can be really prohibitive. Also the first semester it is recommended not to work due to the course load, which could hurt people who really need to work."

"The expense and debt are the worst parts, but they do put you through the rigors and have the support services available for those who need it."

"I love the courses and "the core" education that came along with the MPH program. The professors and administration are always helpful and eager to support the students. The only con of the school is the cost of living in New York City."

"From my first semester at the Mailman School of Public Health, I have found that the school's academics and faculty are incredibly strong, and the Manhattan location, while expensive, provides for a valuable learning and working environment with many internship and volunteer opportunities in the surrounding area. While the school at times has technical or organizational difficulties, the administration is taking bold steps to integrate technology into learning, through computerized exams and online course materials, among other efforts. Overall, the program has been an excellent experience thus far."
