"CUNY Brooklyn College was an okay school. For the money it is a great affordable education option, but given more time to save, I would have chose to go elsewhere."

"Brooklyn College is a fantastic university with great professors and a very competitive environment. The campus is beautiful also. My only problem was parking, and I think it will be even better if they develop a better lot."

"I attended CUNY Brooklyn College in New York. My experience may be more unique than the majority of students who have attended CUNY Brooklyn College as I entered as a junior and thus graduated only 2 years later with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. I was placed on the Pre-Medical track as my goal was to apply for and attend Podiatric Medical School upon graduation. This review would be specifically suited for any Pre-med transfer student wanting to attend CUNY Brooklyn College. Firstly, you control what you do or do not learn at this college. As a student here, it is up to you to keep up to date on your work, create a study schedule and prepare for exams, and take a part in any extracurricular activities that may interest you. The college has the resources to keep you extremely busy if you so choose, and it also will in no way, shape, or form, bother you if you don't plan on doing any of these. Some professors may be "easier" than others, as in they assign less homework, reading, and may substitute one exam for an essay, but in the end, it is once again up to you to decide your education. Do you want an easy A and not be able to recall the material the next month, or do you have to work for the A, and retain the material for a lifetime? The campus is beautiful. In the winter when it snows, the campus is draped in white dust and looks absolutely stunning. If dressed appropriately, it is actually quite mesmerizing. In the summer, there are small red eared slider turtles in the koi pond, and there are always several groups of students studying on the perfectly mowed and green lawn overlooking the library. The library was ridiculously beneficial to me as a student. ID is required to enter, and is checked by security at the front entrance. There is an innumerable amount of desk space, tables, chairs, and computers to do work. There are several floors, and they are all quiet areas. There are rooms to reserve as well, with white boards and markers to check out. Any textbook that you may need can be found in this library. I was on the tennis team, which is division 3. Athletics at CUNY Brooklyn College are for sport, and are meant to be extracurricular. CUNY Brooklyn College is an academic school first and foremost, with athletics and other extra curricular being recommended to further enjoy the time spent in college. I also participated in research, which is upon the student to seek out if interested. Overall, I loved my time in this college because it gave me the opportunity to take control and steer my life and college studies in the direction that I saw fit and which worked for me. I would recommend this college highly."

"Excellent school! They prepped me for a career in Media. The Magner Center for Career Services and The On Course Advantage (TOCA) programs have great leaders that guide their students into making the right decisions. I highly recommend the courses and faculty at this school."

"The business classes at Brooklyn College were always my favorite classes. The professors in that department make the classes interesting and leave you wanting to learn more. If you have a question, they will answer it to the best of their ability, and they do not get annoyed if you ask more. A lot of them have open discussions in class, and you tend to learn a lot from other students also. I am extremely pleased with getting my business degree from this school."

"CUNY Brooklyn College is a small, but beautiful campus. Its graduate program for International Affairs offers a comprehensive curriculum, great professors, and relatively small class sizes that allow your professors to better be familiar with their students. There are a lot of opportunities and support offered for students to be able to work on the research skills, critical analysis, and obtaining internships."

"The Kinesiology department thoroughly prepares physical education students for a career in education. The professors are very helpful with preparing students with lesson plans, and practical experience. They provide a plethora of study guides and school procedures for tests and for new teachers."

"Best decision I could've made! Never have I seen a great college education such as Brooklyn College. Professors are always supportive and helpful, you never fail to feel welcomed. Their nutrition program is one of the best and respected among all the CUNY institutions. The campus 26-acre (110,000 m2) will always be the best thing there, away from the noise of the city .It is known for its beauty, and is often regarded as "the poor man's Harvard" because of its low tuition and reputation for respectable academics."

"Brooklyn College has high class educators that will surely take you to the next level in your educational path. The Political Science degree program enriches you with a robust amount of knowledge on how our government works and how to effect change in society. I believe job prospects are best once having completed a masters degree in the subject."

  • Degree: Performing Arts
"Brooklyn College's MFA in Performing Arts Management is fantastic, but it's not for everyone. Cohorts are really small, which means you get a personalized learning experience and get the opportunity to create really tight bonds with your classmates. This also means you have to be really present and engaged in every class, which makes it a very intense experience. All the instructors are accomplished professionals in the field, and classes are generally held in their workplace, which means you get the chance to get first hand insight into the world of the performing arts of New York City. Lastly, one of the key advantages of this program is the 4-semester internship requirement. Unlike other similar programs, where internships are optional, or only one semester, at Brooklyn College, taking an internship is required throughout the two years. This means you get the opportunity to apply all the knowledge and skills acquired in class on a real-world setting. Why is it not for everyone then? This program is not designed for an already-working professional. There is no flexibility in course schedules, and the class/internship requirements leave no time to have any other jobs. You're either in in 110% or you're out."

"Overall great school, especially for the field of education but dealing with administration can be a major pain. Make sure you keep documentation of every conversation and all papers you hand in because odds are they will lose them. But as far as education is concerned, I left feeling prepared for my career."

"This school is great, especially the early childhood education department. The classes are intense but you learn a lot! The only drawback is dealing with the faculty. They can be difficult to contact and when you do they can prove to be very unhelpful. Many things that I found out on my own as far as becoming certified, I thought I should have been told by my professors. However, I did learn a lot and feel prepared to start my career."

"Attending a CUNY school, gives you a quality education at an affordable price! Brooklyn College, in particular, offered a diverse environment which included staff, faculty, and student body. All three have their moments but generally speaking there are many that will provide assistance if needed. A word of advice: be proactive regarding your studies and academic opportunities on campus. There are lots of them but, as with anything, you do have to seek them out."

"College was one of the most eye-opening and life defining moments I've ever experienced. It's not something I would change for the world. You'll learn, you'll suffer but you'll grow. It's a growing experience worth taking."

"The Health and Nutrition Department at Brooklyn College offered a variety of interesting and challenging classes that ranged from Drugs and Society to Women's Health. The department requires that each student take an internship in order to get an understanding of how to apply your studies outside of the classroom, a class that I am grateful for, because it provided the option to learn in a hands-on setting. Every class I took was different, and provided me with different tools and resources to succeed. Not only did I manage to overcome my fear of presenting my projects to my peers, but I learned how to effectively compose research papers and bibliographies. Although not every class that is in the Health and Nutrition handbook is offered, there are still plenty of options that leave room for growth and learning. Whether you're studying to be a Nutritionist or a Community Health Educator, you will graduate with the knowledge and experience needed to carry out your dreams in the workforce."
