"East Central University is located in Ada, Oklahoma, which you may feel is not a "college town" but it is one of the most supportive towns to a college that I have been in. East Central has many organizations and events that keep everyone involved and you are always meeting new people. I met some of my best friends at East Central. I loved my professors and how they were so personable, even outside of my degree program. Professors are always willing to work with you, meet with you, and just help you in anyway that you might need. The education program at East Central is one of the top programs in the state, as well as the nursing program. When it was time for my observations in schools and student teaching, my professor placed me out of my comfort zone but she knew that is exactly where I needed to be to help me grow and leave East Central as the best educator I could be."

"I took classes at ECU both online and on campus, as well as on campus in Ardmore. It was a vastly different experience taking classes in Ardmore vs. Ada. I highly recommend campus visits for online or distance students to get the full benefit of the offerings on campus. Several professors have come and gone since I was there, but those who have stayed are truly dedicated to literature and writing."

"I absolutely loved my time at ECU! The faculty and staff are very helpful and want to see their students succeed. Although it is a small town, there are always events taking place on campus with free food, games, and prizes! I love the fact that the campus is close together which made it easy to walk from my dorm to all of my classes without worrying about parking. I made lifelong friendships and connections at this school and am thankful for the 4 years I spent there!"

"I love ECU! I transferred to East Central in Spring of 2014 with an Associates degree. The staff dedicated to helping transfer students were impeccable, they made sure I had all my paperwork in order and knew where I was going on campus. My academic advisor reviewed my course degree plan with me every semester and helped me stay on track (which was complicated since I started in the Spring) and I made it through. Financial Aid for me was a breeze, most of my semesters I just visited my SCO for my Post 9/11 GI Bill and he always made sure I had my book stipends in time to have my books by the first day of class. My last semester I received a scholarship and Federal Work Study so had to fill out a FAFSA before they could be awarded. The Financial Aid office helped me understand the steps I needed to take. My professors were kind and very knowledgeable of the curriculum they taught. When the information got a little boring they did their best to keep things interesting. There's always activities on campus and they usually have something for everyone. I give ECU 10/5 stars!"

"The pro is the teachers and tutors absolutely awesome. The con would be trying to get there if you don't live in Ada."

"East Central University provides a Counseling program that I feel will prepare me to earn my LPC. The courses are interesting, challenging, and very relevant to my desired career in counseling. One drawback, however, is that ECU does not offer many scholarships for students in the Counseling graduate program."
