"I attended Fortis College from 2015-2017. The school is a great enviornment to learn and my instructors were amazing and willing to help whenever needed. The school even helps you get a job at the end of the program, and they really did set me up with a sucessful job near my house. Overall, a wonderful school to attend."

"Fortis Smyrna...I've read the other reviews and I felt the need to submit my own. In every place in life, you get out of it what you put in. There was a lot of turmoil and a lot of frustration with staff, but there was a huge lack of effort from so many students. Attitudes of ALL kinds and a mix of character. The students ranged from 20-50 yr old avg of 20 somethings... maturity is only that of the beholder and it is not "high school" it is life! Every school has its ups and downs, but I truly believe that I received a top notch education. Gossip is everywhere and what you see is not necessarily what is going on behind closed doors, good and bad. Everyday in my career I can still hear my instructors voices pushing me to be better, stronger, and more confident in my abilities. The students are all coming from different stages in their life and looking to succeed as best they can in their situations. Even the turmoil helped prepare me for "real life". I am grateful to EVERY instructor, even the one I hated the most. They taught me that most important in life is, seek and you shall find. If you can see obstacles as opportunities you will go far. I'm a huge fan of Fortis and the HYG program. I never agreed with the crap and want/ed this program to thrive. But it is a young department in which every term they seek to grow and improve. I believe that the biggest problem at Fortis, like everywhere else, it is run by humans. Ppl make mistakes and some are bullies and some are sweet and caring and helpful and bottom line, no matter how they go about their tasks, EVERYONE there truly does want the students to succeed! I'm thankful for Fortis Smyrna and I highly recommend this program. Don't read into all the bullsh** because everyone experiences everything differently. Ms. JL, I thank you for teaching me to shut my mouth and just say yes ma'am, I'm a better person and a great hygienist bc of it! BTW, the school part of your career is only the beginning... in practice is where you really are the RDH! Good luck!"

"Not worth it.not at all. you won't able to work at every dental office as EFDA. this school just want your money. As soon as signing up for this school, you won't be able to cancel/ no refund. you will be upset for every single step at this school. I posted this to just let people know. if you like your time and money do not wasted at Fortis"

"I received my associate degree in dental assisting- graduating in 2014. I would like to say that it's been great ever since- but it hasn't.! It's cost me an arm and a leg- and unfortunately none of my credits transfer anywhere. I've wanted to go back to school, and it will put me EXTREMELY in debt if I do. The school is incredibly over priced for what they offer. It was easy breezy curriculum- however they do not have the best reputation. Taking the plunge to college is a tough decision- especially when it comes to loans- and they are very pushy to take your money. They do not appreciate their students. (Fortis Cuyahoga falls)"

"I was really excited to go to this school when I first started. I had two friends that had gone there and were currently working as Hygienists. So that's a good thing. However, I feel like the quality of education I am getting is actually really bad. Other Dental Hygiene schools in the area didn't have anything good to say about Fortis either. I had teachers passing us when we were all failing tests (literally failing, 60% was a high score) just to pass us and move us along the program, just reading slides they didn't even make, falling asleep during class, it was awful. The financial aid office is just one lady who doesn't really know what she's doing. It is always so hard to get a straight answer about tuition and books. The school does an "estimate" for what your books will cost each quarter (usually $450) and charge you, even if your books don't end up costing that much, or you deny your books and buy them from amazon. It really feels like all they care about is getting paid. I was also lied to about the degree, when I was applying I was told that the dental hygiene degree was a bachelor's program, and one other girl in my class said they told her the same thing. It's just an associates, which is fine, you won't get paid any less as a hygienist for only having an associates, you just have less opportunity for future career options, and if you have a bachelor's it is always easier to get a job over someone with a lower degree. Overall, I would not recommend this school to anyone. I am currently trying to transfer schools, I have heard that the credits won't transfer anywhere (That should tell you something right there) but I am still trying. The girls in my class are great and some of the teachers are very helpful and really care about you, but the school overall doesn't feel like a college, just poorly taught classes with a desire to get as much money out of you as possible."

"This school is definitely a joke. Fortis College is not for the students. Oh yeah they want you to belive that when there trying to get you enrolled. Once you become a student it's totally different. You get charged for books over and over again. Not to mention that these books cost twice the amount that you will pay on line or in a book store. The teachers there are a joke. I've never been to a school where most of the dental assistant teachers do nothing for the two hours your in the class but talk to students who aren't even in your class, If your in the lab you get a little hands on but not much. Time is wasted by all the talking that goes on in the class which would be awesome if all the talking was about dental. Your given a syllabus and you do the chapters on the syllabus never do you go over your work or talk about the chapter you just turn in your work at the end of the semester. There's so much talking that your only giving 2 of the chapters to do in 5 weeks. The last week of the semester then thats when teachers give you all this work to be finished by the end of the week because they have bullshited for 5 weeks and realize that they have to show some work has been done. So they pile all the rest of the chapters left on the syllabus and what ever handouts they might have and want it done in 2 days.Like I say these teachers are a joke. Then to top it off you given 1 graduation date and because there not enough teachers you never get the classes you need for instance you'll get a 213 class before you get a 105 now your taking a review class before you actually take the class.. Unbeliveable there are students that have been given 1 class prer semester because not enough teachers, and guess what that pushs back there graduation date. When I tell you this school sucks beleive me don't waste your money. I wish someone would have told me before I enrolled.Run as far as you can stay away from this school. I got half an education but I paid 26,000 ... Go figure Run as fast as you can FORTIS COLLEGE is the worst college in Atlanta.."

"What a joke! 100% UNPROFESSIONAL!!! For 60K wait to get into a community college, plus you'll have a better educational experience! All they offer are pompous attitudes! I thought DH school was suppose to be hard because of the info not the petty high school mentality of the professors, students and rest of the faculty!"

"I was bullied and when I repeatedly begged for help I was told there was nothing they could do. There are laws against this stuff and yet they claim they could do nothing. Not to mention they still owe me money. The majority of the students act like children and are allowed to run a muck in the classrooms and the teachers/faculty do NOTHING. THIS is the WORSE school I've ever attend. I would NEVER encourage anyone to attend one day of one class at this school and its horrid environment. They make the MOB look like preschool at snack time!!!!!!!!!!"
As the Vice President of Education, I'd like to thank you for sharing that you are a "huge fan of Fortis" and the dental hygiene program! We are thrilled to hear you recognize that we truly want students to succeed and that you'd "highly recommend the program". You are so right that in life you get out of it what you put in and that attitude will certainly serve you well and you continue to do great things in your career. Thanks again for the wonderful praise and that you're a great hygienist now - we wish you the best in your future!
