"Georgetown's Security Studies Program is a fantastic mix of theory and practice -- the professors make themselves available to students for advice related to (or not related to!) the course of study despite many of them being current practitioners in the field. Highly recommend!"

"Georgetown's MSFS program provides people with international experience to further their interests in foreign affairs. Alumni rave about the accessibility of faculty and how they are willing to open their personal networks to students. It is a very expensive program, however, with limited funding. This is a huge factor, especially for those who want to work in the non-profit or public sector."

"Excellent program so far - most professors have had practical experience in the field and can put students in touch with the proper resources for both career planning and academic achievement. Administration (financial aid, student affairs, housing assistance) leaves much to be desired however."

"The quality of instruction is superior, and the opportunities for networking are second to none. Classes promote a collaborative rather than competitive work environment and impart a practical skill set-- working in teams, collaborating on policy analyses and presentations-- to complement the mathematical and theoretical skill set of statistical analysis and public management. The internship and job opportunities in Washington, DC can't be matched by another policy school in the nation. There is simply no substitute for proximity to power and being where the action is. On the downside, DC isn't a cheap place to live and the scholarships aren't overly generous. You will be incurring quite a bit of debt to attend this program, but it's worth it. A Georgetown MPP is worth every penny. Not just for its signaling power to future employers but for the efficacy of the program itself; you will be a competent and capable public policy-maker and analyst when you complete this program.Read Less"

"My graduate program is extremely prestigous, which is helpful when searching for career opportunities. We are being taught extremely valuable skill sets, and have the opportunity to learn from some of the leaders of the public policy community in Washington DC and the world. I have every confidence that when I graduate with my master's degree, I'll be well-equipped to tackle a multitude of policy areas. Faculty could be a little more involved in student development, and overall, academic support services could be improved upon.Read Less"

"The MSFS program at Georgetown is an excellent education with excellent career services. There are also perfect internship opportunities in DC. The downsides are affordability (Georgetown has a very small endowment so it can't offer a lot of scholarships,) and a high cost of living throughout DC."

"There are lots of career opportunities that come to us naturally because we are Georgetown. The intensity of the quantitative workload is a lot, and useful. The people in the program are great--work hard/play hard attitude. It is a very collaborative group as well."

"GPPI is a rigorous program that is very quantitatively focused. Classes are demanding, but you learn a lot. Being in DC offers a lot of opportunities that you wouldn't get in any other city. The Georgetown network is expansive and can help you get highly sought after internships and jobs. The student body is not very diverse, but is generally very accepting."
