"I was surfing the internet and googled my University and must say that I'm really surprised by the negative reviews on here. I was full-time at GCU's doctoral school of education and finished my EdS in 3 years. Every single staff except for ONE professor was always professional and polite. I did have one professor who, in my opinion, appeared to take an instant dislike to me. I have to admit that, in my opinion, this professor seemed to be unable to conduct himself professionally, politely or just plain neutral. Honestly, I hope he is not still employed at GCU, because he was the only thing I disliked about this great school. I considered transferring 1/2way thru his course, but decided to not let him derail my education. I originally had a Master's in Criminal Justice and since the Specialist in Education (EdS) is considered a terminal degree I was able to secure an adjunct position at a local suburban Boston college. What a life changer getting my EdS thru GCU has been. I will forever be grateful for the honor of studying and graduating from GCU. I have a GCU bumper sticker on my Benz and I hang a copy of my degree in my office which I make sure all my students can see. I wouldn't be surprised if I have steered many students to go from my two year college to GCU for their bachelor's and master's degrees. I'm a proud latino who happens to live with Parkinson's and epilepsy, but I would highly recommend to any student who is a senior in high school or finishing up there associates degree to seriously consider flying to Arizona and checking out Grand Canyon University. "WOW! What a waste of time and money this university is worse then a university of Phoenix type of school and only cares about robbing you of your money. You will get canned content classes in which they will plug whatever teacher they can find into to run at last minute who is really there to babysit. You get no instruction at all on assignments and all questions are always met with a vague answer that will not answer your questions either. You will really get no relevant information to this profession as I have been working in this profession as a chair at a college for 10 years and would never run or allow a class to be handled so poorly in my department. I have worked at 2 colleges and gone to 3 different colleges and this is the worst excuse for a money pilfering organization I have ever seen or run into in my entire life. Please save yourself some time, frustration and money and not attend here and find a program somewhere else or maybe even read a self help book as that will be more informative then you will get here and much much cheaper. What a joke not sure how they maintain accreditation but that should be pulled as soon as possible."

Doctoral program - NO!

"The doctoral program has many problems all at the expense of the student. The promise was a program where you work on your dissertation from day 1, 2 residencies, and completion in 3 years. This is absolutley not what happens. The program has been changed so many times students cannot keep up with the requirements. Approvals are not completed in a timely manner if at all because staff seems to be spread too thin. Additionally, feedback is vague at best. Students are told this is an independent journey but one is totally dependent on the opinion of the reviewers. Very high cost with no little return for your money. Out of 8 people I know that started the doctoral program, all 8 stopped because of the delays and continued cost. To make matters worse, they now require a 3rd residency that was not part of the program and not worth it."

"Go to a different school for your Doctorate. This school says Christian but it cares about exploiting students and taking their money. Once they have all your student aid and living and they will make you pay $500.00 every quarter for years trying to complete the program."

"Terrible experience. I had to change my degree from an Ed.D to Ed. S. Due to poor guidance and being reassigned 3 different chairs. Then, in new program, got my account blocked for 2 weeks and had no access to my resources and nobody returned emails or calls to help me resolve the issue. Very stressful. Several academic counselors hung up on me rather than work towards supporting me in resolving the issue."

"I'm not done,but I'm on the last couple of courses. Go class of 2016! I have never worked so hard in my life. It sounds strange, but I appreciate the journey. I am a little frightened as I start course 967 in 2 weeks. I'll begin the Doctorate program in May 2012. I've grown so much. I am now in charge of my own education, a scholar.
