"I cannot speak to GCU as in-person since I attend online, but I will say that the online program is a joke at best. Basically you fork out roughly $2 grand for a textbook. You are lucky if you find a professor who actually cares about your education and future success: most of them are just collecting a paycheck. When you get into your actual course of study after taking unneeded classes (Christian Worldview and an online introductory course) you will find a lack of communication and actual teaching. While I acknowledge that online school does require a lot of self determination, it shouldn’t require students to teach themselves or look for outside resources on the vast internet-we are going to college to learn and we should be given the education we are paying for. You cannot expect students to teach themselves on a subject they are going to school to learn-that’s why you have professors with knowledge and experience to teach. They rave about being a Christian college but honestly the most you talk about God is in the Christian worldview course-your professor will post an announcement each week of a faith topic (which is mostly just a bible verse and usually one sentence long). There isn’t much to do with God here. I recommend choosing another school for an online program-GCU has shown me that they are overpriced and lack the ability to run a college that instills true values."

"I Just recently transferred to this school and it is horrible so far. The classes are fine, however trying to receive my left over funds from my student loans is another story. You are not allowed to talk to anyone in the financial department, you have to communicate with a liaison. who by the way is just reading / typing a response from a pre-written response. Of course the college has taken their payment already, but suddenly it may take weeks to process my portion. "Christian" school I think not. Sketchy definitely. I find it funny that other colleges (with way more enrollment) can process in 3 weeks what this school is saying could take up to a month and a half. They somehow got me enrolled and approved for financial aid in less than 2 weeks. But now when it is time to disburse my money it is a slow and long process! Very shady! Avoid this school!!!!!! It is too late for me they have me sucked in now! Save yourself!!!!"

"Well, for 34,000 in student loan debt at a 4.25% interest rate ($4.00 bucks a day) did help get me a job at 47k annual plus benefits; but, honestly, I could have always faked the transcripts and just said I went to school there, watched some YouTube videos on basic and intermediate accounting, and would have wound up basically at the same place I am now..just without the 34k of debt. My advice to you is go to a cheaper college, self fund college, or just don't go at all. I was an online student and bluffed my way through the courses..waste of time, personally, and a mistake at best. Can't say I enjoyed this school at all. God help us all..1 TRILLION in student debt..with a T, baby!"

"I chose GCU because they offer an accounting degree 100% online, have a good reputation (at least that I am aware of), and because they have an accelerated program. I liked that I could take one class at a time for 8 weeks each, I felt that it was easier to focus on one at a time because I am a working mom with two young children. I find the curriculum to be challenging, which to me is a good thing. I tried another university before GCU online and their curriculum was way too easy, the assignments gave you the answers. I didn't feel like I was learning anything. At GCU I feel like I have to actually learn the material to succeed. I feel like the education I have received at GCU has helped me at my job in an accounting firm tremendously. Also the counselors I have had (2) have been excellent at answering any questions and relaying information to me. They are kind and courteous to me. That said, though there are some good online teachers, many of them are not good. They do not always provide useful feedback on assignments, answer questions (I have had two teachers tell me they cannot just give out answers, when I did not ask for answers, I asked for instructions on how to complete problems - or where to look for said instructions). I have had teachers who give out random grades on essays with no reason (of which I had to challenge to get a better grade). I've had teachers basically completely ignore issues that I had in the courses... This is something that GCU NEEDS to fix. I'm not sure if these are all adjunct faculty but I would guess they were. I like that GCU has you rate the professor and course each time, but I'm not sure they actually pay attention to the feedback or do anything about it. I would recommend GCU to people who are independent and able to learn from reading their books alone, without much guidance from a teacher. If you have to have a teacher's input then I don't recommend this school. Of course, this is my experience only as an online student. I am not sure if traditional students face the same kinds of issues."

"Every online class I take has issues with the curriculum and when I report it the response is always the same "This issue has been brought to the attention of the Curriculum department and will be addressed in an upcoming revision of the course." This does not help me. They give you the opportunity to fill out a survey after each class but they obviously aren't reading them. I tell them they need to focus on quality control because of issues with the curriculum. The one class I took would quiz every week and the material included future chapters. This class has me writing a paper with a focus on subsystems which hasn't even been covered yet. For paying $1800 a class these issues should be fixed. Also, I specifically asked the enrollment advisor if the work of others in a group project would affect my grade. She said it wouldn't, which was a total misrepresentation. If these problems didn't exist, I would be happy with the school. I'm doing well and will graduate in a year and a half."
