"Things you should know: -I was lied to, mislead and miscommunicated to multiple times about the ABSN program. -They are very disorganized, I had multiple advisors (4 in a year) because my advisors kept quiting, and the new adivsor would be confused and unable to answer my questions, frequently misrepresenting information and sending me to the wrong place, even for small things like technical support. -This school is very expensive, and advisors will suggest that you take out student loans + extra so you can "afford" not to work. For me, advisors suggested I take out 75K in student loans to complete a 1.5 year program. Specifically about ABSN: -The semesters are structured at a truly paced at break neck speeds. The first nursing school semester is 19 credit hours + clinicals. I was told when I was entering it would "not be possible to work" - Keep that in mind if you chose this program. -You cannot take part time or reduced hours whatsoever. -All the semesters were 17+ credit hours + clinical experiences, with no way to change this. -You cannot transfer from the ABSN to the regular BSN program if you decide a class or schedule or the break neck pace doesn't work for you. They are two separate programs, and you have to go back and reapply to the college. -The program is more than 50k, for 1.5 years of instruction. Go to this school if you: have 50k to spend, someone who will support you entirely so that you can completely quit your job, or you want to take on 75k+ in debt and don't mind a totally disorganized, ever changing staff."

"Worst school i ever attended. They lie about clinical placements and then students cannot complete their degrees because it is hard to find clinical sites who want to partner with the school. How did i get fooled like this ? Will never recommend this school"

"I had a very professional and rewarding experience at GCU. I felt very supported throughout the program and I felt such a level of accomplishment when I graduated in 2018. I am now working at my dream job and I am on scheduled to start their DNP program at the end of the year."

"The school makes fake promises to their students, they keep the students longer than they are suppose to, don’t let their classes get transferred to a new school and don’t allow the students to finish their programs. After the student has a huge loan and only one class left they made up lies and suspended the student. Then did not allow the student to return to finish one class left to graduate and not allowed to transfer to another university."

"I am unsure why there are so many negative reviews here. I work full time rotating shifts on an ICU and this program is completely doable with that. In fact, it's actually enjoyable. The professors are highly accessible and really engage with the students. You can also tell the other students actually care about the program making group projects easy and I have never had an issue before. The content is interesting too. I think those that are complaining just don't want to put the work in because I can't recommend this program enough. Also, my counselors are amazing and respond to be almost immediately via e-mail. They have been so helpful and I feel like this program will truly prepare me for success. Go here! It's worth it and the cost is amazing!"

"This school is a joke. The nursing department heads do not care about fairness when the college screws up. They try to spin things on you and blame you for mistakes that the advisors made that jeopardize your entire education. Even when advising management verbalize that the mistake isn’t your fault. The nursing department backpedals to not accept any fault in anything. Absolutely would NOT recommend this college to anyone who is actually looking to gain knowledge and advance their career."

"Words cannot explain the level of dishonesty and lack of transparency that occur here at GCU. What blows my mind is that they pretend to be a Christian University with Christian values, but they lie so much just to get you enrolled and take your money. NONE of the counselors care about your well-being. They all get paid at the end of the day. I understand this is a business but it's literally people's LIVES they toy with. I was told that I could fast track a 2 year master's program and complete it in 13-15 months. I took out loans to do this. I was then told that I cannot stack up credits and double up courses until X date. Once that date came, I was then told that actually I can't stack up credits or double up on courses BECAUSE ALL OF THE CLASSES ARE PRE-REQUISITES FOR THE FOLLOWING CLASS. In essence, this means that I am not able to complete this program faster than I was told. This is is MONTHS after I have been a GCU student. Why did it take MONTHS to communicate that to me? I was TRANSPARENT and CRYSTAL CLEAR when expressing my interest in completing my program sooner than 2 years. They went along with it until I was neck deep in debt to finally decide to be "honest" and tell me that it's impossible. Now they stopped answering my emails. HORRIBLE institution, do not go. The reputation it has is well deserved."

"I enrolled in the nursing program and had a great experience. The professors, dean, students are all really encouraging and supportive. I made friends throughout the program that I still keep in touch with. The classes were tough but the support is there. We all know nursing isn't an easy career field, it's a passion so none of us should be surprised the classes when the classes are challenging! Be engaged, study, don't wait until the last minute, etc. and you'll succeed."

"So far, great school EXCEPT that the requirement for ONE online class is participation 5 DAYS A WEEK. YOUR GRADEs SUFFER IF YOU DON'T. Their policy is 3 days but ALL of my professors REQUIRE 5 days, so forget about taking more than one class. Don't believe counselor."

"Grand Canyon University is a great school to go to especially after having received your first degree. I received my Masters degree from GCU after first getting my bachelor's degree. GCUs online courses are challenging and take dedication and hard work, and determination to complete. But I believe it was well worth the effort. Their instructors are knowledgeable, professional, and will work with you as long as you keep the lines of communication open and keep up with your course requirements, and attempt to meet the deadlines. Finally, the mature student should have no problem achieving success at GCU."

"I should have read reviews before signing up for a class. paid so much money on books that I could have gotten free online. Sent professor 5 emails to discuss issues in the class, claimed he never received any of my emails. Counselor claimed to she called me several times and was not able to reach me. I don't like when people lie to cover themselves."

"Only into my second online course with this university and it is awful. The instructor (I will leave out Professor as she doesn't deserve that title) will disappear for days- When the university did finally track her down (the first time)she was full of excuses of why she didn't put us into groups and respond to emails and online inquiries; i.e. her brother was home from the army, she has three other classes she is teaching, and so on. Well when you pay close to $3000 for one course you could care less you just want an education. Oh and she doesn't care if you have issues you better be online daily!"

"I obtained my BSN online from the University of Phoenix in 2014, but registered for my online MSN at GCU because their per credit hour cost is significantly lower. I was a traditional student for my ADN and I have had 8 years of clinical experience before enrolling in my MSN. I too have had similar, less than acceptable, experience as some of you with actual conversations with financial aid officers and student advisers. Initially they are more than eager to meet your needs and then phone calls and check-ins become few and far between (However, this seems to be the case with many colleges/universities). The only time I hear from my student adviser is when I have to pay for my next/upcoming course- this is a little disappointing. All that said, the curriculum is comprehensive and professors are both knowledgeable and prompt with their responses. I cannot speak for other programs, but if you are a self-motivated individual looking to further your nursing degree with an emphasis in education, I recommend this program. Best of luck!"

"I completed RN-BSN at GCU and just LOVE IT! I am just starting MSN in Education. It has been GREAT for the first five weeks. My professor Dr Cheryl Williams is great and so glad I am in her class. I would love to be in her class for my next two courses. She communicate well with students. She's very positive. Students learn a lot from her posts replies to you. Of course school is very stressful and no school is easy. But instructors at GCU are VERY HELPFUL! I LOVE this school and have nothing to complaint about. I do study every day and working two RN jobs. If I can do it...everyone can! All my instructors are very knowledgeable, kind and understanding. They do understand your stress, your school and work. No one make things difficult for students. Professor Steve Arnett real cool and great. He wrote me a paragraph in my post encouraged me to go on with MSN (I didn't think I would do it). Thanks to Professor Arnett and my counselors...I feel much better now about MSN programs. My two daughters also are nurses and I (as their mother) strongly encourage them to start MSN program with GCU. Library staffs also GREAT. Everyone are so helpful and professionals. After graduated I received salary increased from my two jobs and I feel much more confident in my position as a nurse (and future MSN). Don't be discouraged by reading some negative comments about GCU or staffs. And the cost for both programs are not bad. Actually much cheaper compare to MOST colleges I checked out. Many nurses in my hospital are current students or graduated from GCU and they also LOVE this school. They given us nurses scholarship money to attend school and happy that hospital nurses really love GCU."

"I attended GCU to complete my BSN and decided to acquire my MSN in nursing education. I have attended campus colleges and was apprehensive to do an online course, but after taking classes with GCU I could not have been happier with the education I received. All classes were challenging with exceptionally knowledgeable, caring facilitators. The support available from all departments was helpful and sincere. The communication with instructors, classmates, and advisers was exceptional. Sharing of life experiences making lifelong friends around the world expands knowledge and cultural experiences. Great university all around!"

"I'm a student and an employee at GCU.. This is nothing but a diploma mill institution. You will not gain anything out of this place, except a debt for the next 10+ years. They will recruit anyone, and I mean anyone.. Accelerated nursing program, class you can finish in 5 weeks, (good luck retaining anything valuable). There are people that failed nursing acceptance exam 4 times, and still got accepted. Management is joke. 90% are former employees from University of Phoenix. Don't be fooled by "Christian University" . They are publicly traded and are after one thing, and one thing only, profit! Be smart and due diligence before committing to this institution."
