"Knox College has excellent faculty and small class sizes. My experience there really enhanced my critical thinking skills. I believe my largest class must have been about 30 people, and my smallest class was six people. The TRIO department offers excellent support on resume writing and career preparation. They also offer many scholarships for study abroad and educational opportunities off campus."

"After Knox, I went on to get a master's degree at the top U.S. creative writing program, the Iowa Writers' Workshop. I think anyone getting a degree in English or creative writing should expect an uncertain job market, but I have remained continuously employed in fields related to my degrees, such as college teaching, editing and professional writing. Knox is a liberal arts college, and the liberal arts model encourages students to take lots of courses outside their major. I minored in religious studies (with many of my credits coming from abroad study in Japan, studying Buddhism through Antioch College) and took six political science courses for a comparative politics minor. These experiences broadened my education beyond what a single major can provide. Making the humanities, rather than science or engineering, the focus of your education is always a gamble, but I am grateful for the base of knowledge and habits of mind that these courses gave me."
