"As a non-traditional student, Paul Quinn College (PQC) afforded me opportunities that I would not otherwise had at any other institution. I was the recipient of three scholarships and I graduated fourth in my class. Additionally, I had the awesome opportunity to work, volunteer and mentor on a level that gave me great satisfaction. I was a Federal Work Study Student in the Office of Development and I served as the Office Manager for two years. I used whatever talents I had to help make the institution better. By using my previous truck driving skills, I had the opportunity to also serve as the bus driver for the college. They taught me that if I was going to serve I must serve well, therefore, in the end I made it my call and duty to serve. The faculty and staff of PQC taught me the Four L's of leadership; (1) Live a Life that Matters (2) Love Something Greater Than Yourself (3) Lead From Wherever you Are, and; Leave Places Better Than you Found Them. PQC group of professionals gave me the tools to continue my education in law and I was so excited about this opportunity that I brought the first Pre-Law Conference to the college. As a hobby, I dibbled and dabbled in theatrical arts and with this gift I started a Theatre Arts Club at the college. There was a plethora of opportunities for me to spread my wings and be whatever I wanted to be and with hard work and determination I won many leadership awards, one was which, on a national level with the Women of Color STEM. Yes, even at my age "I DID IT." The awesome leadership at Paul Quinn College gave me and so many others an opportunity to succeed and be the best. With that said, I am currently a Senior Leasing Agent for a major commercial property and I am pursuing a law degree. All these accomplishments was done in a time span of only two years. I failed in graduating from high school when I dropped out at sixteen, however, I won when I refused to give up on my dreams. So, at the beautiful age of forty-six, I am leading, mentoring and accomplishing my dreams and goals. Thank you Paul Quinn College."
