"Overall Purdue is a good school for engineering and some subfields of chemistry. The dating scence is so-so if you are not christian and conservative!"

"One category this survey missed is school spirit/pride. There is no greater pride in a Purdue alumnus than their alma mater! Boiler up!"

"Engineering Grad school at Purdue is tough, but reminds me of undergrad. I lucked out and found some really nice grad students to help me figure out what to do/not to do. The students in grad school here have been pretty nice. The faculty are totally over booked. They do not have time for questions or anything."

"PU locates at West Lafayette, IN, a small town near Chicago. The engineering related subjects are quite competitive, especially on aeronautics&astronautics and agriculture. While, the disadvantage here are: no medicine school, kind of boring campus life. If you are a ambitious one who wants to go into industry or be an engineer, just come."

"If you're coming for a good education, it's a really great choice! This is what I came for, and I am grateful for it. The Purdue name/reputation goes along way once you are an alum. If, during your free time, you are in need of things that come with living in a big city, this isn't the best place for that. However, Indianapolis and Chicago are 1 & 2 hrs away, respectively. For me, this wasn't such a big deal. But I know many people who really struggle with this adjustment initially. On the other hand, in a school of almost 40K students, it's hard not to make a few amazing friends - who will make the experience one you'll never forget."

"Purdue University is a great school for academics and opportunity if you are in any of the engineering fields, veterinary medicine, analytical chemistry, or business. Purdue is not strong in many of the social sciences, art, or theater and so these students should probably look elsewhere for graduate school. The greater Lafayette area provides some activities for students in sporting events, outdoor recreation, and bar crawling but many will find the area a bit small and lacking in things to do outside of the classroom. Diversity is also lacking at Purdue; it ranks last in LGBT diversity amongst the Big Ten schools in terms of programming and LGBT student/faculty/staff recruitment. Diversity in other areas is helped by the presence of a Black Cultural Center and an international house."

"Very competitive program with some wonderful professors... My only concern is campus safety--which is not the graduate school in particular--and the refusal of the school, as a whole, to allow for a women's support group because of fear of a damaged university representation."
