"SFCM is a performance conservatory. As such, the academic coursework takes a backseat to the performance work and opportunities. As a guitarist, there are few places I would rather go, as the faculty is excellent, open to diverse music and and career paths, and maintain a friendly, open department, with none of the drama you sometimes find in small schools such as music conservatories."

"The pros are that the quality of education is at a really high level. I constantly feel I am being challenged in ways I cannot conceive. The cons are that there is not much support for the students. With high tuition rates, expensive living situations, and low employment rate after graduating, it feels as though the school does not help the students to the best of their ability."
