"Whatever university you attend, make sure to do it with a purpose. In that vein, UC Davis is no exception. As with other large public universities, undergraduates are both afforded myriad opportunities to explore various interests both academic and extracurricular but are also a very small fish in a very large pond. Some lecture halls hold over 300 people, so by design you are just a dot in the crowd. That is, unless you try to stand out. That said, the campus is gorgeous. It has a distinct agricultural feel (UC Davis started an agricultural satellite for UC Berkeley), and the city around the university is very much a "college town". There are more bicycles per capita than any city in the world, and because the area is largely flat you won't need to peddle up many steep hills."

"The University of California, Davis offers a unique hands-on learning experience that incorporates face-to-face interactions with professors as well as the ability to have dialogue with other students. This learning style greatly enhances the ability of individuals to quickly master the materials at hand, while simultaneously gaining a new understanding of difficult subject matter that would be a struggle for most."

"UC Davis was a great school for me to attend as an undergrad. As Davis, I felt safe, intellectually engaged, and involved. I had excellent TA's as well as lecturers and professors. I met life-long friends and was very well-prepared for my current career as a Spanish Teacher and International Program Director."

"I enjoyed my undergraduate experience at UC Davis for the most part. College (and life in general) is definitely what you make of it. There are no professors or TAs who will hold your hand and drag you to learn, but they do give you all the resources needed for students to succeed and understand the material. Davis in particular was an amazing school because it's the definition of a college town, where everything is centered around the students and the campus community. There are numerous clubs and associations on campus in order to help students feel welcomed. There are also great networking events for a variety of fields for those who are interested in business, law, or tech."

"UC Davis was the best 4 years of my life. I grew so much as a student and person while being away from home. I would encourage anyone to go to UC Davis for the college town feel and terrific education."

"Wonderful college town, great school and great campus. I would recommend taking advantage of the study abroad program too, it's much more robust than the other UC's. There is a beautifully budding craft beer scene in the town with a great bottle shop in downtown, and a few beer bars. The philosophy program is amazing, especially at the higher levels, the teachers are old and well published, or young and eager, and the classroom setting is small and open to some great exploration and discussion. Obviously, not a super useful major, but it prepared me well for law school."

"I really enjoyed going to UC Davis. It is a great university in a small town, but it has a great downtown, fabulous Farmers market, and is in a great location near to the bay but also near to the mountains."
