"If you can teach yourself and just need the information to learn from, then go here. I got my MS here and most of the teachers were good, but the advanced statistics professor refused to answer any of the students questions with only vague responses. Another psych professor couldn’t help 3 students so I had to teach them when I was a student! I got my certificate in I/O psych here and the professor for the leadership course was a joke. She wasn’t qualified and didn’t even know how to use blackboard. It’s an online school with no internship requirement. So you can’t use your Masters to get a real job in your field. It’s accredited, but they don’t their courses are limited so you can’t get your PhD anywhere else because your MS won’t count. You would have to retake your Masters to get in. Anyone can get accepted here. All you need is a 2.5 GPA so most of the peers you’ll find in class have very poor grammar. I only went here bc I couldn’t walk to campus. But I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Please don’t go here."

"I recently graduated from Walden University and I was pleased with the experience all the way. From the moment I decided to continue my education, they advisers were friendly, efficient, and available. If I ever had a question, they were quick to respond. The professors were professional, adequate, and thorough in their teachings as well as feedback on assignments. I recommend anyone who has previously taken college courses online to join Walden University. If you haven't taken online courses, I would recommend Walden as well since they give you more than enough tools and resources to help you acclimate to the online classroom."

"I attended this school online after leaving the military to complete my masters. Do not take any classes with Benita Stiles! She lives in New Zealand while she teaches online. She does not respond to emails and she does not explain nor help with assignments. I did multiple videos for her class before she told me that they were incorrect. I asked for the ability to turn it in late so that I could follow her guidance but did not receive an answer. She declined and failed me after I asked for help multiple times. Originally, I received an incomplete which would have been okay as far as the GI bill was concerned because they wouldn't have made me pay it back. After I complained and wrote a letter to the school, my grade was changed to an F which has now put me 2500 dollars in debt to my GI Bill. The administration dealing with Psychology never emailed me back after I asked for them to review my class progress and the emails I had sent asking for help with the videos. After this incident, things continued to roll down hill. With no concern for my disability, my military service, or what I was dealing with at the time, the financial aid office refused to allow me access to federal student aid so that I can pay for the class I failed (and need to graduate). I will not be able to graduate because of one class and one horrible professor as well as my disabilities causing me issues at home, that the school has no concern for. I can't graduate due to my GPA but I cant fix it without retaking the ONE class I failed. i can't afford that one class. I believe this school has no concern for their students and their progress. They are only concerned with money and protecting teachers who do not do their jobs. I have appealed and appealed but no luck. I will not recommend this school to anyone. Even, If I do find a way to pay for the one class I need financial aid for (and cannot receive because the school has denied my request even though FAFSA has approved me), I will not finish my doctorate here!. Please choose another school for your own financial security and success. Check the graduation rate for the school. I now know why it is so low. They are not concerned with you graduating. They are only concerned about money no matter how many classes they make you take multiple times due to the horrible teaching."

"Did not graduate but did enroll some years ago. After college counselor had me enrolled helped me with every thing once enrolled, I felt as if i no longer had support so I very like i was tricked into the school because i was promised to receive assistance and support and that never happened. So I withdrew from classes with a debt and nver heard fron them again besides sending bill (debt owed to them). Rhis is when foinf to school online was very new and not many schools were doing it."

"I have had a good experience with Walden. I began working on my MS in late 2016 and am now finishing my Capstone/Thesis (Feb 2019). Many people mention in their reviews that the school is expensive; if you research the school, it indicates it is a for-profit University, and not unlike many private schools. With that said, my total expenses were almost exactly what they told me they would be. Books are always expensive through a University bookstore; it does not matter if it's brick and mortar or online. You need to shop around to get the best deals on books/supplies (i.e., Amazon). I have had excellent professors who were engaged in discussions and responsive to emails. I can honestly say that I have not experienced any problems with the MS Psychology program. You need to understand the expectation about discussion boards; they are like small papers and need to be formatted and written in APA style (with references), or you will get dinged for it. Checking the boards and posting on time are also vital to success. My undergrad is from a brick and mortar, and the online experience requires a lot of self-motivation and organization. It was a lot more work, but it has been worth it. Read the fine print and understand what you are embarking on; the online environment is not for everyone. Good luck! :)"

"So far I have no complaints about this university at all. I graduate in may, and all of my classes have run smoothly and communication with any teachers, advisors, financial aid people has been ok. The classes are challenging and most professors have been great, except one, but you can't expect all of them to be the same or great. People are individuals and have different ways of dealing with stuff. If you are someone who can handle dealing with multiple types of people and situations you should have no problems."

"If you have a Bach and you have worked in the field and you know how to really write and research and you do not need any help or feedback from anyone, than you can get a degree at Walden. Do not go to an online school for Bach degree. GO to a brick and mortar school. There are things you need to learn and access you need to have at that stage in your degree. Online schools, especially Walden, are about giving you the least amount of help. I have found everyone helpful but do agree about not upsetting your instructor. For one class, I was not even sure I had an instructor. It was 4 weeks in and I was like oh, do we have a teacher. Wait until there is a special at Walden. Sometimes they do a 30% off the entire time of your degree and that is not bad. DO NOT expect help at this school. You will need to be intelligent, self starter, researcher, motivated and ready to put in 20-40 hours a week to truly earn your degree. Yes, you can put in less and graduate, but that does not mean you will learn."

"This is my first two classes at Walden I was told that I had to take 2 classes to meet Walden's requirement LIES. They gave me the wrong prices for the classes LIES. I was told that all my aid went through and that it would be ok to start classes 2 and a half weeks late without penalties LIES. Walden informed me that everything was cleared with the professors and the University that my enrollment was completed late and by books came over two week after class started LIES.I just had to complete the pass work on my time before the class was completed and all work would be graded without penalty LIES, keep in mind that Walden University sends their book to you therefor you have no control over when they come.When i completed the classes only one of the professors would accept my work the other professor just said she was not accepting my work and gave me an F grade.She was not concerned about the University sending my books late or what they told me.This professors advice for me was that I would learn from this. CAN SOMEONE AT WALDEN TELL ME WHAT IS THE LESSON IN THIS? The university wants me to still pay for this class. When I called Walden about this they replied by saying they could make the grade a (W) withdraw from the class but,I still have to pay the cash.I was told false information from Walden and known I am being penalized for their errors.The University refused to do anything about my complaint but drop me from role with no explanation. DO NOT ATTEND THIS UNIVERSITY YOU WILL BE SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE RUN."

"Adult learners be aware. I'm very dissatisfied with the lack of empathy of instruction and circumstances. They seemed to more interested in money than with student success. Instructors seem to be facilitators of chatrooms rather than providing significant teaching of course material. Overall, I find Walden lacking quality instruction for course material. The technology of the chat room is a decade old with no video or lecture ability. Collaboration is great...however, it is mostly with students and is not real time. often many hours or even days go by without instructor feedback."

"VIRTUAL FITS A BUSY LIFE. As a working professional, Walden was the perfect choice for me. The ability to do my coursework around my own schedule was of keen importance. There is a schedule and cadence of coursework to which one must adhere, so the flexibility comes from having no structured meeting time, not from lack of deadlines. YOUR SUCCESS IS UP TO YOU. In my coursework, there were no team meetings or group assignments which was much to my liking. I had years before experimented with another on-line university that did require team assignments and I disliked the lack of equal commitment. A few of us would wind up doing the lion's share of the work while others would offer sub-par submissions or skate by. At Walden my work stood or failed by my own efforts, and since I was earning my degree for me, that seemed more fitting. IT IS HARDER THAN YOU THINK. Having experienced both traditional college and on-line, I would say on-line is more challenging, especially if you are working full time or busy raising a family. I travel a great deal for work, so my academic activities were often done on airplanes or into the wee hours in my hotel rooms. I truly put my personal life on hold. Before I started grad school I made sure I had the full support of my husband, our closest friends, and family. I surrendered my weekends to writing papers and completing assignments. I also had the full support of my work team and my boss, as well as a tuition reimbursement benefit at work. With all of that in hand, I signed up and dove in. OVERALL GREAT FACULTY (at least in my area of study) Out of all my coursework, I suffered only one really poor instructor whose on-line demeanor was very off-putting. There was a lack of the genuine helpfulness that I experienced pretty much across the board for all my other courses. Certainly some were more engaging than others, and I had a few exceptional instructors as well, but overall I would say very good - to - excellent. BE SMART ABOUT THE PACE THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU. I was encouraged to take two courses a quarter by my academic advisor, but I knew with my demanding work schedule and travel, it would be better for me to do it one course at a time. Thus it took me 3 years to finish instead of 1.5. It was exhausting but an accomplishment that means the world to me. DON'T MISS GRADUATION. You can attend a real graduation. Grads from all over the world attend, and it is a grand event that can be shared with family and friends. YOU WILL BE PROUD OF YOUR ACHIEVEMENT. My coursework absolutely equipped me for further career success, and I am a very happy Walden grad."

"Within the next few weeks, I will not be a student at Walden University. As an institution of advance learning their administrative business practices are inefficient and unprofessional. I have always thought that once an educational institution's main focus is on increasing profit margins and less so on the welfare of its students, and the quality of its pedagogy then there is bound to be a conflict of interest. The university's "unethical" practice to recruit as many students with a failure to explain the financial aid process in details prior to and even during enrollment is deceptive. This is particularly so for international students whose country of origin financials aid's practices and rules differ from that of the United States. Upon self-discovery of the latter, rather than the university trying to help me in a professional manner, I was made to feel ignorant and the blame was cast solely on me for not having the initial detailed information from the university. This is despite my many attempts to obtain the same. Each time I attempted, I am transferred to another department of which people are either unaware of what I am relating or I am told my information lacks credibility. Then there are the insensitive, rude undertone emails and telephone conversations that reflect the "after the fact" limited information. If I was that ignorant, would I have become a student of higher learning in the first replace as suggested by the reactions of the university's staff? At one point I was not given an academic advisor because the university was not aware that they had not given me one following the departure of the previous academic advisor. Who incidentally had lacked advising and professionalism skills, small wonder she departed from the university. As if to punish me for some unknown crime, fate caused me to self-appoint a new an equally ineffective academic advisor. What behooves me is that these people have master's and doctoral degrees, many from Walden university. Yet they lack basic common sense as well as advanced thinking skills that ought to be reflective of their educational attainment and maturity. Did I also mentioned that when a person telephones the university, you are advised and reminded that calls are monitored for "quality [guarantee]purposes, " a script that is embedded in the psychic of the university's staff and that is all there is to that action. Also, the university request that you complete these survey so that "we can improve the delivery of our services," really,? That is so ironic! An educational institution cannot be teaching its students how to act professionally responsible while its administrative and academic support staff are being inefficient, incompetent, and unprofessional. This spells, hypocrisy and deception, therefore I do not want to be connected with an institution that engages in not only such practices but also bias and discrimination. I believe that good reputation is still important so PLEASE, PLEASE reconsider carefully before choosing Walden University, I had to learn the hard way after receiving initial warnings. Please do not make the same mistake as I did."

"I read a bunch of the negative reviews - and I see some that I can understand the frustration and others that feel like sour grapes. All I can tell you is that I gained a lot from attending Walden and graduating with my MS In Social Psychology. I would say that 50% was Walden and 50% is what I put into it. I'll admit, I was a little worried when I witnessed some of the classmates I had in the first few courses. As a for-profit college - I think you tend to see people who really aren't prepared to go back to school, and those are the very people I noticed dropping out as time went on. There were a couple of what I would call "weed out" courses where it was abundantly clear - only the people who wanted to apply themselves and get the degree would complete. I recall statistics being one of those courses. For those of you who crave professor time, or lecture time - online classes aren't for you. For people, like me, who don't mind digging in and learning through a lot of reading and writing... online classes suit us well. For me, online was a must. Because of my job and the hours and production schedules - it would be close to impossible to regularly attend "night" school. I found the online format perfect for me. Though it took me some time to adjust to the work-load and to form good scheduling habits, I found the routine consistent enough that I rarely felt really stressed. Yes, there were times where I would procrastinate and get stressed about completing an assignment. But I found that, for the most part, if I was disciplined - the work was the right balance of challenging and flexible. No, Walden isn't cheap. If I had one desire it would be that Graduate Students could more easily find "scholarship" help. However, I accepted that as a cost of convenience. The bottom line is - Walden isn't for everyone. But for people who are really interested in learning, with a very flexible and convenient way to do it. Walden may be the answer. The key is that anyone considering Walden should be prepared to drive themselves. The only one who can really determine whether this is a valuable learning experience is the student. I am fairly certain that people can fake their way through this (like I saw many do at a traditional school as well), but that only hurts yourself."

"I attended Walden from 2007-2010 for an MS in Psychology and again from 2012-2013 for a Post-Master's Psychology Certificate in Teaching Online. I'm currently employed full-time as a Program/Disabilities Coordinator for a medical school and I also work part-time as an instructor for a technical school (I teach a psychology course and an intro to online learning course). Walden definitely helped me get to where I am in my career today. I completed both programs solely online which was a huge help as I worked full-time through the entire process. The patience and aid I received while writing my Master's thesis is unmatched. I would absolutely recommend Walden to a friend or family member."

"I took a six months leave of absence. After becoming very ill and needed medical treatment. I send in the Doctors reports to them. But after the six months, they would not let me resume my studies. I appealed and they still would not let me resume my studies. When I asked them why? They stated that they did not have to tell me the reason why. I wrote an email to the university. They never replied to me. Do NOT go to this school."

"I transferred to this University from another in my senior year because they promised I could shave months off of finishing my degree and offered me a semester free. When I transferred last year I was not alerted that I was enrolled in classes earlier than I was supposed to be and the classes I was offered "free" I got all F's in! This placed in on Academic and financial aide probation... I had a 3.6 GPA at the previous university.When I finally got my official review of my transfer credits they were completely different from my unofficial evaluation and I was now not a senior with less months taken off of my degree time as promised... I was a sophomore at Walden.BEFORE I received this official evaluation I had already started my classes (that i actually knew about this time) ....I was absolutely disgusted with the my math lab instructions that were given in the math class. There were steps of the problem that could not be explained in any portion of the help areas or in the text book....so I had to google how to do actually do the problems. I ended up with an A in the class but it was because of google and ALL of my free time being dedicated to trying to find out how to properly do the problems.The cost of this school is also outrageous. Their classes are 5 credit hours as opposed to 3 as most universities are, for the human services program it is 300.00 per credit hour so $1500P00 for one class. The net price calculator on the web site for rates is still on the 2010 school year, so it is reflecting much lower rates that what are currently being charged.The support staff are always in a hurry just to get you off the phone and don't always give you accurate information....at all. So calling for help is completely useless. I have transferred back to my old school and I am having difficulty getting transcripts from Walden to be applied at my school so that I can graduate......please do not waste your time or money on this school....they are very dishonest and your degree will pull no weight in the market place."
