Belmont has a beautiful campus and in a city that provides a great backdrop for opportunity. However, I do feel that the sales job of what we thought were far and away advantages of attending Belmont, did not come to fruition. It is extremely expensive for what they offer and throughout the years of COVID, tuition rose each year while students were not even attending in-person classes. We paid a premium to go to Belmont, yet no reduction in tuition was given, even though classes were online. In fact, tuition... Read More rose each year. The internship program from what I witnessed was a joke. Very little help in obtaining an internship was offered. Not only was there no internship, no credit was received, yet still paid over $6k for nothing. To add to everything else, Belmont built a beautiful performing arts building and named it after their recently retired president. However, it was never open and ultimately never saw the inside of the space, even though I’m certain a large chunk of tuition went towards paying for this extravagant auditorium that seemingly was never open. In the end, we are left with an immense debt due to receiving no break, scholarship or other on tuition, even though came in with a 3.7 GPA. No internship, nor job opportunities upon graduation and even when reaching out to professors who had communicated their willingness to help, never returned emails. If you’re looking to get into live/studio production, I would highly recommend Blackbird Studios. It’s a 6mos hands-on program for $24k and will land you a job that you have experience in vs taking a bunch of classes that are useless for a career in live or studio production. That compared to a $200k degree (they like to tout how much aid is given out, which I find hard to believe, considering we received nothing)and no job prospects coming out of graduation. Very disappointed with the overall experience compared to what seemed to be the promise of what a Belmont education offers it’s students.

Belmont will put on a great presentation during their “Belmont Day” and orientation on how much they care and cannot wait for you to call Belmont home. Wrong. Once you get there it’s a total different vibe. I had to move in early and had absolutely no help. The RA’s just stood and looked at me. When I had gotten back to my dorm that night after rehearsal I asked my RA’s at 9:03 if they could help me unloft my bed because it was too high up for me to even put anything on it and they said they got off at 9 and... I let them know my situation again and they came up, looked at my bed and said “jesus christ we work 9-9 we’ll do it in morning.” I slept on a mattress on the floor that night with no working ac. The RA’s never helped I had to call maintenance the next day. Fast forward to classes starting. I don’t come from a wealthy family so obviously I applied for as many loans and grants as I could but Belmont would only accept me for so much. It was not even a week after classes started they had asked me to make a payment (we’ve been calling trying to set up a decent payment plan for what we could work with and try to get some help getting other loans and they would never call back) or my fall term and housing would be canceled by the next day. I called them numerous times as well as my mom to get told we had to pay 5000 then no matter what other loans i could get and then another 4000 every two weeks three times. I’m sorry but no one has that kind of money just sitting around. The professors and advisors are great and really care for the students. Admissions and Financial not so much. I was given no other option other than to withdraw because I could not pull 5000 dollars out of my pocket that day. I had to pack my stuff and be out by midnight that night. I’m not from Tennessee so I had to get a hotel room with my loaded car so I could get some sleep before my drive home. Belmont is nothing but money hungry and a joke. Please find a different school that’s cheaper and will genuinely care about you all the way through. Save your times and tears.
