Butler University Rankings by Salary Score™

After leaving Butler and going to graduate school, I realized how much I had missed out on. Butler's professors in the music school were mostly pompous, arrogant, and condescending, in my experience. My general education/core studies teachers were no better. Their biases were apparent, and the quality of education I received was nowhere near as good as it should have been. The cost, is absurd. Larger schools have more diverse student populations (Butler is dominated by wealthy donors and their kids), and more... Read More opportunities for students to find career pathways. Butler offered me little to nothing in those areas. The music school is stuck in a conservative minded past, with no idea how to move forward. If you're going to go to college, I wouldn't recommend a snobby, tiny, private school like this, which caters to wealth and champions diversity only to maintain public image. Go for something with a larger, more diverse student population, and a larger campus with more opportunities. I made the Dean's list my final year, so I wasn't an average student. Yet, a teacher in the music dept. actually told my advisor that I didn't belong at the school, when I was a first year student. I truly regret going to that small minded place and I strongly recommend looking at other schools. The campus is also in a bad part of town, with crime on the rise and overpriced housing all around. Two thumbs down.

Butler University is a school I would not recommend to anyone. The administration is so poorly run and equipped, that you will face many issues while attending, such as class enrollment, transcript requests, course planning, etc. No one in the admin department, especially their president, has a good understanding of how to enhance student accessibility and experience. If you have a different opinion than all of the self-entitled and arrogant students that attend, you are in for a rough four years. Even having been a part of a fraternity while I attended, there are many issues with how the student body is ran, or rather I should say, "babysat." With all the issues I have noted with this school, I would not be surprised if they are bankrupt (or close to it) in the next few years, knowing that their school philosophy is not one that is attracting many bright minds across the Midwest (especially with Butler's current price tag). All that being said, there were some good things about the university. The professors there are extremely personal and definitely show that they care about your intellectual growth. In terms of licensing exams that I took post-grad school, they had prepared our class extremely well. At the end of the day, no matter how good the professors were, if I could go back in time, I would not have stepped foot on this campus.
