I graduated DePauw University in 2018 with a double major in Mathematics and English literature. I graduated in 4 years with a 3.65 GPA. After graduation, I attended law school at George Washington University. Now I am a patent attorney in Washington D.C. I believe that my time at DePauw University positively influenced my career potential. Read More soft skills at DePauw: the ability to present complex information to clients; making connections and expanding my network; and a general love for ambition and learning. Though DePauw is a small school, its alumni network is incredibly broad. The D.C. alumni network alone includes lawyers, non-profit workers, healthcare professionals, consultants, PhDs, a variety of masters students, political / Capitol Hill professionals, and creative / media professionals. Suffice to say, DePauw punches well above its weight when it comes to post-graduate opportunities. As a student at DePauw, I was involved in several extracurriculars: the debate team, a student-run creative writing magazine, the DePauw radio station, a mentoring program with the local middle school, a fraternity, and a Red Cross special project. I was also a teaching assistant for an international student program, and I was a tutor in writing, speaking, and mathematics. I was also an Honor Scholar (a program that I highly recommend applying to for its rigorous classes and exceptional teachers). I was also a research assistant for a project in which I synthesized a markup language with an ancient manuscript from the Indiana University rare book library. There were so many other extracurricular activities offered at DePauw. The bottom line is: if you want to do something at DePauw, there will be a opportunity for you to do it. On the lighter side of things, DePauw has a beautiful campus with an adjacent nature park. The entire campus is walkable -- you can walk anywhere (excluding the nature park) within 15 minutes. The fall at DePauw is incredible. Other miscellaneous points: DePauw has a large and diverse international student population despite being in the middle of Indiana. Our study abroad programs are regularly ranked extremely high. We have a large student athlete population.

I think DePauw University is a great institution. I think it is a place where a student can thrive and discover who they are and what their passions are. It is a liberal arts institution that teaches you how to think critically and challenge yourself and others. DePauw is also a place where friendships for life are made.
