LIU Post has to be one of, if not the worst run colleges on Long Island. Advisors usually don't respond and if they do it is weeks at a time, they also seem to not know what classes are being offered where and what time. Which leads to my second point, they have classes essential to your major at a completely different campus, never mentioned at the open house or upon registration. Some classes you also need to take may just not be offered during either the fall or spring, they just don't have the resources... Read More to do so. So if you have to take a class to graduate in spring but they only offer it in Fall, enjoy your next few months at LIU post. Aside from a few good professors that actually care the whole university is in shambles. Another point is they changed the times of courses for this semester...MID SEMESTER! People build their schedules around classes and they moved the classes up by 30 minutes. Just an awfully run school and would not recommend to anyone for any major. The only positive I have gotten from LIU is that it makes me want to have enough degrees and weight behind my words to close its doors for good. My final thought is that the school, at least the Post campus will be shut down within 25 years.

I chose LIU over Mercy and other local LMHC programs because at the LIU Hudson open house when I asked one of the professors about job placement, she told me that all LIU Hudson students are entitled to a "success coach" and placement actually from LIU Brooklyn because they were our sister school and that no LIU alumni go without work and that's why I picked LIU even though it was so much more costly. For me, that isn't an option. I now find myself seven months post-graduation with a student debt I can not begin to repay, cleaning floors to pay into my medical expenses, and honestly, I am ashamed to admit without a steady home (I have been living between family and friends). Mostly I find myself angry for believing this woman and angry at LIU Hudson for the constant reassurance and lying they did to keep me as a student. I am honestly so disgusted that I refuse to show anyone my diploma or hang it up because the letters LIU enrage me. I have some but not enough proof of my story so legally there is nothing I can do. Morally however I can warn prospective students DO NOT GO HERE! Please save your money and time. Picking LIU Hudson will always be one of my biggest regrets. The previous was only an example of the many many lies. LIU Hudson even closed their Rockland location and didn't tell incoming students. I thought I was going to an independent school and only found out when receiving my schedule that I was going to be at Rockland Community College. The school was/is dirty and falling apart. I paid a technology and university fee to sit in RCC and receive NO university or technology services and honestly the education received pretty much felt like it was on a community college level. The LIU online system to make your own schedule doesn't work for half of the students so I had to make mine through an advisor (who is honestly super nice and probably hates me over all this) but despite my questioning them several times before the semester started about being short a class, ensured me I was on track to graduate in May 2019 and that they were not going to add a class to my class load. I got a letter in April 2019 that I was denied graduation due to the one class I had asked about. I received my diploma a full five months late due to this. I on multiple occasions had to contact my lawyer due to these matters. I am personally sharing this with others because I am concerned for other prospective students. I am lucky enough to have relatives and friends who have taken me and helped out but I've been in a DARK place over all this. I had a break down overall this and The Rockland County Sheriffs' Office ended up saving me. If I did not have the luck of being reported as a risk and if I didn't have the support system that I have I wouldn't be around anymore. Unemployed, uninsured, in debt with no promises of a place to sleep...these are real issues that steam form LIUs LIEs. I am concerned for the other individuals who have LIU take their money and to promise them job place only to cut them loose. I interned by counseling undergrad students at Purchase College many of whom were set to graduate and looking into LIU as a prescriptive university. When they asked if I would recommend LIU I gave them basically the same honest review as I did hear, at this point, I am up to having eight people say they decided to save themselves from any connection to LIU because of my help. Please dig deep and do your research online about this specific extension of LIU and you will find many many stories and reviews a lot like mine form past students. I recommend not even applying.
