This is a quaint and charming private school with a lovely campus. MU's location in Fayetteville, NC and where I have been stationed for some time now is what attracted me. The advisors on Ft. Bragg sold me on the MU at Night program majoring in Occupational Health and Environmental Management degree program. $395 per credit hour. I have a strong science background and what I found at MU shocked me in that the entire Department to include the Department Chair were fairly ignorant of basic scientific knowledge.... Read More In an example, during my first semester I took Environmental Science 1010. During the course, the basic learning objectives laid out in the syllabus were only touched on during the limited lectures. Most of the lectures centered around cancer research, disaster planning and mitigation, and just hours of side bars from both students and the Professor. The Professor also happened to be the department chair. My first moment of doubt came when the Department Chair insisted that carbon dioxide was depleting the ozone. I kept my peace and received an A- though I only did minimal work. The second issue was Waste Management taught by a guest instructor who worked in waste management on Fort Bragg. No text book was used. Instead the instructor provided a power point slide deck at every lecture. We took three tests which involved cutting and pasting the informational bullet points from the slide deck into the answer space of the exam. Easiest A plus ever. I just completed Spring 1 semester and took Principles of Industrial Hygiene as one of my courses. The instructor provided "case studies" to teach her lessons. She wrote these "case studies" herself and they were fictional garbage. One of the "case studies" had us mulling solutions to a Miami based food processing facility where new employees were suffering from the skin condition "malaria". I was floored. This ignorant person thinks malaria is a skin condition... She had to give the first exam twice even though it was take at home un-proctored and open book because other students did so poorly. In the student's defense, the questions were non-sensical even if it never got off the deck of Bloom's Taxonomy. Complete waste of time and money. The second course I just finished was Pollution Science and Sampling. Four credit hours because of the attached labs. I had to fill out approximately four fifth grade science class level work sheets and complete one virtual lab from Glencoe which was so laughably simple. This was a 3000 level course using a fifth grade virtual lab. I did nothing and learned nothing. My grade? A minus. Laughable. Its just free degrees. Want to buy a college degree? Methodist University Department of Occupational Health and Environmental Management has you covered. Lowest rigor possible without getting flagged by the accreditors. I left this program because I wanted an exciting additional pathway to my career and MU wasted my money and my time. Do not recommend. Go to Campbell or Elon if you want a private school.

Methodist University is a great campus, the faculty and professors are very polite and are truly there for your betterment. Class sizes range based on the level of the course you are taking but are not extremely large. The classes are big enough for the teacher to learn everyone's name and have a one on one connection if you so wish. The campus atmosphere is very welcoming, walking around campus you are sure to meet very friendly faces. Even walking up to a complete stranger could make you a friend immediately.... Read More
