I received multiple scholarships to SCC, so many that I actually made money going to school. I was working toward a Bachelor's degree and transferred my SCC credits to earn my Bachelor's A lot of people like to be elitists who speak out against community college as if it is for less intelligent people. Read More pay a significantly less amount of money, and you will earn an Associate's degree after two years, which is something you will not earn at a university. DON'T fall for the community college is for people who didn't do well in high school line they feed you. You are much, much smarter in going here for two years and transferring your credits. AND you will FEEL so much smarter when you're debt-free and all your friends who went to a university are $80,000 in debt.

When I moved to Arizona from my home country I decided that I needed to go back to school. English is not my native language and I was very stressed to go back to school at age 36 and learn in English. But I did it!!! I signed up in 2011 and was very nervous before my first class. In my first semester I used the great help Scottsdale Community College provided as English was my weak subject. I used English tutoring that helped me with my grammar and writing after which I passed English 101, and English 102... Read More with an A! Most of the professors were very curious regarding my accent and in every first day of class I needed to explain where I came from and why. The professors were very supportive and nice, except for one of them who was not so nice because when I asked a question in class, he would repeat my question and ask the other student if they understood what I am saying. I felt very hurt but I didnt let it take me down and I continued asking questions and continued studying. When I needed more time to complete a test (due to my English proficiency) professors gave me more time and agreed to stay with me in the class and provide me the time I needed. Tests were not easy (even difficult) for me especially in biology because it was a completely different terminology to study and I needed to work very hard just to be on par with everybody else. It took me 3 years to finish my associate degree but I have a GPA of 3.6 thanks to Scottsdale Community College. I am proud to say that I got accepted to a graduate program at ASU based on my associate degree from the Scottsdale Community College and my bachelors degree from my home country.
