"The professors are passionate and always thrilled to discuss topics that come up in class, or their research, your ideas, and more. I have so much respect for the profs who taught me. There will be more- and less-motivated students everywhere, but for the most part my peers were invested in their educations and committed to participating in class too. Students are engaged in building a better campus community as well, and haven't been afraid to take a stance if there was something they wanted changed too. Most classes in the social sciences or humanities involve a lot of fascinating class discussions, which doesn't work well for everyone, but it's amazing for those of us who thrive in interactive learning environments. The study-abroad programs are absolutely incredible as well. The one major downside of a small college like L&C is that not every class is offered every semester once you get past the 100-level, so you have to plan ahead a bit to be sure you're getting all the classes you need in the right order, especially if you're studying abroad."

"I really enjoyed how small the classes were and the individual attention that I received from faculty."

"Lewis & Clark college is a beautiful campus with many students who care about academics just as much as they care about the social aspects. Food is delicious in the bon and the dorms are nice enough. Class sizes are very small and you can truly get to know your professor."

"Lewis & Clark College is a great school! It was a perfect fit for me, but that doesn't mean it was a 100% perfect. Loved my time there and don't regret it."

"L&C was a wonderful college. I transferred in halfway from the University of Washington. The difference between the two was night and day. L&C was a caring, nurturing, tight-knit college community and it really helped develop my critical thinking skills, communication and public speaking skills and encouraged dialogue and constructive conflict. The school helps to instill a connection and care for the environment and the rest of the planet. Even if you aren't majoring in Global Studies or Environmental Science, the understanding that we're all members of the same planet and the same community in woven throughout the school. While I unfortunately didn't take advantage, the school has an amazing study abroad program and the vast majority of the students participate. Students can go to an amazing array of places for their study abroad which is pretty amazing for such a small school."

"There are far more pros to attending Lewis and Clark for graduate school than cons. The teachers on the graduate campus show a true interest in each student and how they are doing not only in the program but in their personal life. They are available to talk when you need it and will often use office hours or stay late after class to explain topics you want to know more about or are struggling with the materials. The campus is beautiful and has walking trails throughout both the undergrad and graduate schools. The only real cons that I have encountered is if your running late for class it's very hard to find parking."

"Being a first year graduate student at Lewis and Clark has been amazing. The faculty truly treat each student with respect and as a future counselor. I has a family crisis and my teachers were willing to allow me to take care of business and even turn in my papers a week later. Overall my experience here has been amazing."

"Pros are that I am learning through a social justice lens and that my teachers are all passionate, kind, supportive people. Cons are that the public transportation is horrible at night, and that it is so intensive that you cannot work at the same time. It is also very, very expensive. Also, sometimes I am unable to express opinions if they are "too radical", even though this school is known to be left leaning."

"Overall a good program, more financial aid would be desirable, but the faculty realy cares about the students."

"The Portland area is a great place to go to school and live in. The graduate school is not as wonderful as they made it out to be when I was a prospective and incoming student. There is little to no help in career planning. Professors are either too busy and taking on too much and can't give their classes their full attention or some are too new and have never taught before and we are the guinea pigs. There are a few good professors who are also therapists in the community and can give practical advice."

"Lewis and Clark's Counseling Grad program is expensive due to it being a private school; however, the faculty support you and you never get an automated response when you call. The teachers are impressively chosen and are the best in their field. The texts required are also chosen with care and are worth reading. Lastly, this school has a sterling reputation in the community, post-graduation, and you will be proud to hand your resume to any potential job site with Lewis and Clark as your academic background in training."

"Pro - L&C is an awesome law school. The faculty, many of who write the text books you read or who are leaders in their fields, are always willing to meet with you and help you succeed. Also the staff and students are very friendly and supportive. Con - It can get cliquey and that sucks, especially for people coming from out of state. It also seem that sometimes the high ups support is focused on the top 15%, leaving the rest of us to fend for ourselves. Overall though a great school and well worth every penny just to sit and talk to some of the professors. Seriously. They are that great."

"Lewis & Clark is an amazing school. There are so many opportunities for students, it's almost overwhelming. In some ways I wish I could go back and do it all again -- mainly because I chose my major late in the game. Because Lewis & Clark is a liberal arts college, there were so many courses and extra curricular things to do, I found it hard to narrow my scope and really tap into everything LC had for me."

"I have completed one year at Lewis & Clark Law School and enjoyed my experience so far. Portland is a great city and has a low cost-of-living compared to other cities in coastal states (my friend from Oklahoma has a higher cost-of-living than she was used to), plus no sales tax. Portland has a great mix of people, but is not ethnically or racially diverse, and the school is not a beacon of diversity, either, though they do make an effort. The professors here are very knowledgeable and accessible; most of mine have extensive practical experience which I am learning is not the norm at a lot of schools. Like presumably any law school, there is a lot of work involved. Competition inherently exists since we are all ranked relative to each other (again, the norm at law schools), but it seems healthy and classmates are helpful (no resource-hiding, or false-information-giving). Lewis & Clark has a very friendly "vibe" as does Portland/Oregon (I was a little taken aback when the city bus driver told me to have a good day as I was exiting from a rear door). Great environmental law program and cutting edge animal law program. Many firms from outside the state recruit at Lewis & Clark for students interested in environmental law (less so for other fields but career services is helpful at reaching firms/agencies in your target market). There is also a great legal writing program which is difficult to appreciate until you are in law school or are otherwise aware that your success at writing in undergrad does not automatically transfer to success in legal writing. The job numbers for graduates have not been good, which is what the popular rankings reflect. I have found career services to be very helpful, but cannot yet speak to their assistance with post-school job hunting. The numbers are improving, though, and the school is bringing in more people in career services to increase their already stellar outreach efforts. I am happy with my choice to attend Lewis & Clark and would do so again!"

"It is an incredible school with a non-competitive law school atmosphere. The professors are intelligent and considerate. The only problem for me is affordability. It is very expensive and there are little to no scholarship opportunities offered for non-minority students."

"It was a perfect fit for me- small class sizes, time to establish real relationships with professors, a campus of like-minded students which helped me establish an amazing community of people. There was a strong focus on international life with language requirements and great study abroad programs, etc... I was able to Major and minor and still take elective courses to explore all my interests. They took my transfer credits from Running Start (community college during high school) which allowed me to immediately enter into upper level courses. Yes. I had a passion for it, although a more practical degree would have given me more opportunities before returning to a MA program. It applies to my job now, even though it is technically unrelated. It gave me a deep understanding of how society works and the social behaviors I see in teaching each day. If possible, explore your interests before arriving, so you can declare your major early on. That way you can choose a college that fits your interests and has the resources for your major. You also have more flexibility to explore other courses besides your major later in your college experience. Choose to study something you are passionate in and the money usually follows."

"Great program. Puts out some of the best counselors in Oregon. Only drawback is a lack of advisory support from faculty."

"The professors at Lewis and Clark College have a true passion in teaching and helping the students not only the material in class, but also life. Students are taught material that will be useful in future careers and life and encourages feedback on classes. The campus is in the beautiful suburbs of Portland and feels like a natural escape from reality."

"Our school is awesome mainly because of the great professors. Many of them write the textbooks that you use and all of them are out there in the community making a difference. There is not one professor I've had that is just there to teach."

"Education offered, surrounding area, campus safety, and transportation are some of the highlights at Lewis and Clark. I think the Career Support, and Financial Aid are two weak points with the school."
