"I am fortunate to be a part of the advance standing program for social work and I love it. I will be done in a year but the classes are very intense and I am required to be take certain classes in order to complete the MSW in one year. It's hard work but it pays off."

"Rutgers has a very competitive graduate program which is what first piqued my interests. I have yet to be disappointed and have not had any negative experiences yet."

"Nowhere will you find a law school as rich in diversity as Rutgers. The network is vast, the faculty will astound you with their extensive knowledge and experience (but humble approachability). There is always something to do, whether a purely social gathering or an enlightening debate on some political controversy. Students and faculty are extremely liberal, sometimes to the detriment of conservative students and the flow of a balanced discussion. It's Newark, so walking alone at night is unwise, but public transportation is abundant. The surrounding poverty, though an obvious contributor to the moderately high crime rate, provides ample opportunity for pro bono and community-oriented legal work. If your expectations are low, you will be pleasantly surprised. If your expectations are high, they'll be easily met by this high-quality diamond-in-the-rough institution."

"The cost for the quality of education is great, especially when there is a law school down the street that charges double the tuition."

"The professors here are very nice. They care the study and life of their students. Research support is sufficient with a lot of seminars. Transportation is not bad here. The biggest problem here might be safety. Occasionally, we can receive emails about robbery and theft. Minor cons are expensive food in school."

"Rutgers' School of Criminal Justice provided access and mentoring from some of the leading criminologists in the world. It was a first-rate university for the study of crime and justice."

"Rutgers-Newark is a great program. Unfortunately, the surrounding area of Newark is not so great. I carry mace with me when I walk from the parking garage to class. The work load is not overbearing, but is definitely what one would expect at a graduate level."

"We are very lucky in our department as graduate students we get 5 years of guaranteed funding. We have opportunities to teach our own classes in the winter and the summer sessions. In addition, our department is a very supportive, cohesive bunch of graduate students and faculty. This results in a wonderful atmosphere to learn and work in!"

"The pros of the graduate program was that the curriculum was rigorous, there were many activities on campus and many opportunities to meet new people and socialize and there was great support from faculty and staff. The cons of the program are the costs and financial aid support (scholarships, grants, work-study, etc.)."

"The social work program is a great program, but the field education sector is lacking. The field education department does not address any student concerns, and does not work with students."
