"This 'overall grade' value is misleading. Hyde Park is a terrible neighborhood and the workload at Chicago is intense, but that doesn't detract from Chicago being the top anthropology grad program. Come for the first rate education, not for the beautiful surroundings or for an easy ride."

"Pros: Very flexible. You have up to 5 years to complete the program (20 courses, plus effective leadership) and you get to choose which courses to take. Top notch faculty and quality students = excellent education. Cons: No scholarships available."

"The caliber of education at the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration is definitely top of the line. With an emphasis on social policy, SSA graduates are very well rounded in their understanding of social service provision from both a micro and a macro perspective. Situated in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, the location of the program has both its advantages and disadvantages. While Chicago is a diverse city with many opportunities, it is not the most affordable place to live. In my experience, however, the University of Chicago has been very generous with their financial aid and scholarship endowment. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this program to anyone interested in pursuing a career in social work."

"Love my experience here. The professors are incredible, my first year I had some of the best professors at the school. They are very accessible (with a few exceptions) and always willing to help. It is a rigorous, competitive environment, which I think is great. The students are all very friendly, it's not cut throat in any way. Chicago is a beautiful city with lots to do."

"Overall, I am really happy to be at the University of Chicago Law School. The intensely academic environment can be draining at times, but the school does a good job of offering and encouraging social activities to decrease the stress."

"The location of the school is terrible, especially compared with other law schools in Chicago, but the academic experience is unparalleled."

"The School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago is a great school. The academics are astounding and the career support is also amazing. However, the area is urban and the crime rate can tend to be high. The campus police is very helpful and protective though."

"MAPSS is arguably the best masters program in social sciences anyone can find. It is the absolute best choice is someone is unsure whether he/she wants to apply for a PhD in social sciences. The quality of education is outstanding. The work load is very heavy and students work a lot more than their counterparts in other masters programs, but this is what gives the sense of being in a PhD program."
